I like it. It's a nice start. I'm withholding any commentary on grammar or spelling, for now, as requested, no matter how painful it is personally.

vote-for5vote-against

@shrdlu: I know it is painful, it is painful for me too. I wrote it as if I wrote one of my posts here. Grammar has never been one of my strongest points, though I can spell almost at a spelling bee level if I try.

vote-for4vote-against

@catbertthegreat: I didn't mean it was painful to read, I meant it was painful to keep quiet. It read just fine.

Need a how can I track my deal. Yes we KNOW you can't track it here. But let's pretend. Put in that package tracker and the reminder that people need to check their emails for order confirmations from the vendors.

Plus really I do want feedback if a seller doesn't live up to expectations. I want to know to stay away from specific vendors.

Also the Reputation needs to be mentioned there.

I have been meaning to do something like this for a while now, but time has been conspiring against me. Maybe on Friday.

vote-for6vote-against

Oh and apparently the difference between voting and reputation. We may as well make it dummy proof.

vote-for5vote-against

@hobbit: Hahahahahaha!!!

Shrdlu wipes tears from eyes. Dummy Proof! You are funny.

vote-for5vote-against

@shrdlu: One can always hope. Besides if we have all the answers in once spot then we can all be answering the same way, like a bot.

vote-for6vote-against

@hobbit: That would be nice. but since they are asking, that means they haven't taken the time to look. Since they didn't look initially, they are just wasting their time and ours. sigh*

vote-for6vote-against

@sgoman5674: Yes but some of the DO come back and look. We can't be rude.

Your second sentence should be two sentences: "Users post the deals they find on the Internet and post them here for people to find in the Community Deals sections and pose questions to the users of this site in the Ask the Wooter's section."

TRY

Users post deals they find on the Internet here for people to find in the Community Deals sections. Users may also pose questions in the "Ask the Wooters" section about deals.woot items, items they are looking for, or other topics.
-----------
A deal is any product or coupon that a user finds on the internet that they feel would be of interest to the woot community or to be better publicized to a broader group of people.

Put a period after "community". Delete the rest of the sentence.
--------------------
Your answer to "What is the Ask the Wooters section?" should be broader.

vote-for5vote-against

@wootvan, @shrdlu, @sgoman5674, @hobbit: I have implemented your suggestions and updated the page. The only thing I haven't changed is elaborated on the Ask the wooters section. I have added all those who commented usernames at the end of the FAQ. At this point I'm out of ideas for what this thing should say, also I can't remember what I thought I should write about too.

I'm opening this up to all of you for editing. Take a stab at it, fix the grammar and spelling, change words, add new sections, change wording, etc. Edit it as you see fit.

Here is the link to access the FAQ file in Google Docs:

vote-for5vote-against

@catbertthegreat: That means that ANYONE can go edit this. Bad idea. I just made a one word grammar change, with no authentication. I have a gmail account. I'll bet there are others who do here also. I've mentioned the magic word PM here before to you, but I'm suggesting that you really need to just permit specific (known to you) editors, so as to prevent the otherwise inevitable vandalism.

In other words, insist that anyone who wants to edit PM you with their gmail account name (it won't work without that), and then add them to the list of permitted editors.

vote-for5vote-against

went in and cleaned up some grammar...and I STILL draw houses like that!!

I agree with @shrdlu that vandals will get there soon!

vote-for6vote-against

@catbertthegreat: Oh lord. I just also remembered how very FAST google indexes this site. That means that any random vandal that sees the link can make changes.

vote-for6vote-against

@wootvan: There is also going to be an instant race issue. You make changes, I make changes, we both save, one of us loses. That kind of thing.

vote-for7vote-against

@shdlu and @wootvan: Your right, that was very stupid of me. I've sealed the document.

Everyone who has commented just PM me with a gmail account for access so you can edit the file., or you can just suggest the changes here and I'll make the changes for you.

vote-for5vote-against

@catbertthegreat: I'm doing nothing more tonight (other than poke around a bit), and am trying to figure out which gmail account to use for this. I am torn. I keep wanting to use Tattle to plead with whoever's on the other end to move this to Popular, before it vanishes (yes, I know I put a link to it in one of the other threads).

I guess I'll have to settle with suggesting that you make a new question, tomorrow, and make the link to this part of it.

vote-for6vote-against

@shrdlu: No problem, should it not survive to popular, I will repost it tomorrow.

vote-for5vote-against

@catbertthegreat: I don't have gmail and I have been protesting the need to get one, I already have a billion other emails.

vote-for5vote-against

btw it will remain in our commented section and we are the most active and care the most about this anyway. The rest, besides staff, probably don't bother with the FAQ anyway.

vote-for6vote-against

@hobbit: What you say is true, but there are always the stragglers wandering back in (like @sgoman5674), and it's them I'd like to corral.

vote-for5vote-against

@shrdlu: It is on the popular page now.

vote-for6vote-against

straggles in

Hey guys what's up

vote-for3vote-against

When I followed the link to the FAQ, there's nothing there. Probably because you've locked it down to avoid the previously mentioned vandals... is there a chance you can at least make it read-only for us to comment/suggest?
I'd offer to host it at my website, but Google Docs is really much better for distributed authoring than anything I could slap together.

vote-for6vote-against

@rhmurphy: Okay viewing should be unlocked now. Thanks for pointing that out.

vote-for5vote-against

The FAQ has been shut down. Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused you.
