What should I look at when buying a wireless router?
My belkin wireless B died yesterday after about 6 years of awesome use. Now, I'm looking to get a replacement and the features available are a tad bit overwhelming. All I really want is something that will download up to 1mps, has password lock, is reasonably priced, and won't poop out in a month. Range is not a big consideration at all, but that seems to be what all of the router specs keep touting.
So my questions are: (1) What router would you recommend? and (2) What do you personally consider important when shopping for a router?
Get one as cheap as possible, with decent ratings.Well know brand, good reviews on Tigerdirect and Newegg.
This is what I recommend. D-Link (DIR-601) for $22 free shipping.

Be careful with ratings a router that has lots of features especially one that supports DD-WRT will get 'extra rating points' for the features, which you will not use.
Now about your old router.
I have found that power supplies is the cause for router failures over %50 of the time. Even an under powered power supply can power a unit but not give you full functionality.
@caffeine_dude: Thanks for the input! That was incredibly helpful. I didn't know the power supply issue. Hopefully it will be a while before I have to troubleshoot my router, but that is good information to know.
Just thought you guys might want to know. Got the router you recommended and it is AMAZING! It is way faster than my old router and I'm so glad I listened to you. So thanks for making my xmas eve super awesome. :D
