I definitely would buy this book. I own it and go back to it whenever I am in need of a new device or deciding whether to get an old one fixed. It also gives you some great recipes and does a fabulous job explaining what a particular utensil is used for and whether you really need it.

We bought this book some time ago. Absolutely love it. If you like cooking and are any bit the science geek, Alton Brown is the guy who will show you the way. He not only show you how to cook, but the science behind why it works the way it does. Recipes are relatively easy, tasty, and fairly healthy. This book goes into the gear for the kitchen, what it's good for, and how to use it right. A good read from a brilliant mind.
