Got it for free as well. THANKS!!!

Will this add a year to my current subscription?

vote-for6vote-against

This is HSN's way of snagging new customers, but that doesn't mean it's not a good deal. You'll be invited to set up an account (you also have the option of checking out as a "guest") and to set up a default payment method for future purchases from HSN. That's not a big deal, as you don't actually have to buy anything, and if you do buy something in the future your checkout will be streamlined. I opted out of the email list and used Paypal, and as near as I can tell everything went through without a hitch. Total bill: zilch.

Adds yet another year on to my subscription at no cost to me. Woo-hoo!

vote-for8vote-against

fantastic. thanks for the heads up!

vote-for3vote-against

I did this and I was not charged; however, is there any chance of getting hit with a renewal fee?

vote-for4vote-against

Cool. My subscription to Wired just expired. Hope this works. FREE!

vote-for5vote-against

@darksaber99999: Not for me, because I used an empty rebate debit card to place the order.

vote-for4vote-against

Thanks a ton for this! What I really want is just the iPad version, where do I get information on accessing that? Or do I have to wait for my first issue to arrive before I can use the iPad version?

vote-for4vote-against

I did not see anything about a renewal fee, but if anyone sees anything about it please share.

vote-for2vote-against

@venksterisgod: When you get your first issue, there should be instructions near the front of the magazine. Otherwise, download the wired app through Newsstand and use the label info to set up an account to access the issues. Be aware, they are fairly large (~300-500MB per issue).

vote-for2vote-against

@soren216: @darksaber99999: I have never had a renewal fee for Wired, and I've been subscribing for 5 years or so.

vote-for6vote-against

@darksaber99999: According to the HSN Listing: No hidden charges, obligations or automatic renewals. Limit one subscription or refund per household.

Wired Magazine? Is that for people who love technology, but don't have the internet or a smart phone, or access to a library? There's enough of them left to print a magazine for?

vote-for4vote-against

@soren216: It says there are no hidden fees, your credit card is not shared, and no automatic renewal.

This deal is very, very nice.

vote-for15vote-against

If you pay with PayPal, make sure to go into Profile > My Money > Pre-approved Payments and cancel HSN's ability to automatically renew your subscription.

@msuper
excellent advice re: cancelling renewals! thanks!!

vote-for3vote-against

Does anyone know...it gives the option to buy up to 9 of these, is that nine different one year subscriptions or one nine year subscription?
Also, it says "What You Get: 1-year subscription (10 issues)".
When did WIRED stop doing 12 issues per year?

vote-for1vote-against

@fleamarketadict: From Wired's own website

US: 12 issues (one year) for only $10

Seems HSN is screwy

vote-for2vote-against

@fleamarketadict: I purchased nine, so I guess I'll see what happens! I'm really hoping I don't get nine copies in my mailbox next month. If so, I'll see if they can combine the subscriptions or I'll change the addresses and redirect them to friends and family.

sweet thanks.. Nice to use paypal and cancel them straight away!

vote-for2vote-against

@msuper: thank you so much for this tip! I didn't remember that PayPal had this selection.

vote-for1vote-against

@jwildman16: Fine print says "Limit one subscription or refund per household." I'm interested to find out what they do with your order... you may get lucky!

Just got an email from HSN stating:

"We regret to inform you that because of a technology-related issue related to the Wired Magazine offer on HSN.COM, your order did not meet the minimum eligibility purchase requirements in order to qualify for the offer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Received an email today: "We regret to inform you that because of a technology-related issue related to the Wired Magazine offer on HSN.COM, your order did not meet the minimum eligibility purchase requirements in order to qualify for the offer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

The Home Shopping Network is a scam? Who knew??

vote-for1vote-against

@umphreak: @venksterisgod: Yep, got mine too. Sorry I steered you wrong. I sent a strongly worded email to HSN customer service; I doubt I'll hear back, but it made me feel a little better.

vote-for3vote-against

Makes me feel a little better to know I wasn't the only one who just got that email.

vote-for2vote-against

I got bounced for no good reason.

They sucked me into opening an account, too!

I dont like being lied to, so I am cancelling emails and deleting account.

vote-for1vote-against

I got that email today, too. I hate to complain about not getting something for free, but I still think that is a pretty crappy way to do business. HSN isn't likely to get my business even when I have to actually spend money.

vote-for0vote-against

Also got the email today. The old bait and switch I guess. I know it was free but it was understood I was trading my info and exposure to their site for what I was getting. Now i get nothing out of that deal but they retain everything they got out of it Technology-related issue, yeah right.

FYI, from the response from HSN:

I am sorry for the disappointment that you feel about the cancelation of your wired magazine subscription. I understand that you were expecting that magazine to be delivered as you had place what you though was a legitimate order for the item.

The one-year (12 issues) subscription to Wired magazine valued at $12 was offered with a purchase of any Electronics item priced at $25 or higher while quantities last. Since your order did not meet the requirements for this promotion, the order was canceled. Please know that no charges for this subscription have been made to your credit card.

vote-for1vote-against

I see no way to cancel my account.

I even emailed them about it and they avoided my question.
