Stay far, far away. I'm one of many that received a lemon. Keys just stop working. This model is inherently flawed. Spend the extra coin and get a nice Logitech.

vote-for4vote-against

Worst buy ever.

Just get a Mechanical keyboard and never worry about a keyboard again.

vote-for4vote-against

@mrd3a7h: I agree, I have a Logitech Illuminated keyboard. It is really nice. No Problems with it.

vote-for5vote-against

Worst KB I ever owned. Bought it new from BestBuy, used it for 4 hours... Took it back. When asked about why I was returning it. I laughed and said it was an engineering design flaw, suggested they send them all back.
I bought a G510 instead.

vote-for0vote-against

OK I didn't know these where crap but I want a backlit ergonomic KB. What are my options?

vote-for6vote-against

This keyboard is mehh.... I bought one a while back and the keyboard only works when my computer is booted up but not after the computer POSTs. Also, sometimes when you boot your pc the keyboard just doesn't work at all and you have to unplug and replug it back in (keyboard). On the plus side I like the blue lights on it lol

vote-for7vote-against

I've had keys stop functioning, but unplugging and replugging resolved that each time. Didn't keep it long enough to experience failed keys.
Don't like the feel or resistance, ghosting is a big problem.

Avoid.

vote-for6vote-against

This isn't worth your $40.

I had one of these brand new from Razer. Within one year, 3 keys completely broke off (the clips that hold them in literally would jam, then snap right off. Made with cheap plastic or something). Hold your money or get another keyboard... Even Microsoft makes better keyboards than these.

vote-for3vote-against

had mine for almost a year... got a super saver deal on it at the time ($25). worked 100% fine on my xp machine, upgraded to 7 and the usb hub doesn't work.

keys all work, media controls work, audio controls work...

it's piano black and is a pain to keep clean, but I am happy with it.

vote-for-1vote-against

I agree with all the negative comments. It's not worth anywhere near $40. But MY personal beef isn't with any of the things mentioned here. I love the blue color, but you simply cannot see the letters in the dark without focusing. White is by far the better choice. Otherwise, the keyboard is a highly functional, quick keyboard... just not worth more than $20 for the attempt.

I bought this Keyboard from Woot over a year ago. I have not had any problems with it mechanically, I actually like it very much. There is a slight bit of wear on the asdf keys now though, as I game very much, and I believe that the coating is beginning to wear off. The illumination I really like, and will replace this one day with another illuminated keyboard. Far as I am concerned it was worth the money for me, and I think I spent just a bit more for it then.

vote-for6vote-against

I got this keyboard a long time ago and I must say that although a lot of folks had problems it seems like, I love this keyboard. The software is super simple for macros. And the illumination is great. I also love the feel of it as well, nice key response and the click of the keys are good as well. I got mine refurbished for the same price and will probably buy another one if this one ever goes. Sorry to the other folks who had problems.

Typing on one right now, almost a year old with tons of daily use. I have never had an issue. There was a recall on some of these that fell into a specific serial number range, a long time ago.

@mrd3a7h: Agree. Logitech Gaming Keyboard G110 is my favorite.

I bought this about 4 months ago as a temporary replacement for my g19 Logitech that's in storage. Until the recent driver update, the top right corner media controls didn't work. The same corner touch volume controls does not show an on screen volume display so adjusting is a guessing game. The keyboard illumination only comes in one color. I love my G19 over this keyboard. The G19 has multiple illumination, quite keys, highly responsive, extremely programmable, and a great overall gaming keyboard.

vote-for10vote-against

I like how the majority of the comments are saying it's a lemon but they get voted down, but the 2-3 saying it's good get voted up

vote-for3vote-against

Got one on Woot about a year back.

I actually love it. Illuminated keys are nice for finding your way around the board in the dark, the response time is definitely quite excellent, and the keys are low profile so less motion is needed to press them, making typing a less tiring experience.

Yes, I've noticed that very occasionally keys get stuck... not in a physical sense but in the sense that they are constantly sending out a "key pressed" signal to your computer. Just unplug and plug back in and the thing is golden. This only happens maybe once/twice a week on my board. These also might be a newer model so who knows if they will stick for you.

I would never recommend a Razer product to anyone. I've tried three different Razer products, and all three had some kind of problem right out of the box.

vote-for4vote-against

This is a pretty bland keyboard overall. I've noticed no performance difference between this and my previous backlit keyboard of a generic brand, which cost about $10. The media keys are useless, and other than that there are no extra features.

I would not recommend you buy this.

vote-for5vote-against

Yet more anecdotal evidence. Got one of these maybe 4 or 5 months ago from a previous woot. Worked fine for a while, then started to have random keys stop functioning. The first couple times a USB reset (unplug, replug, reset) would fix it. After a while, that didn't help, and really, who wants to keep climbing under their desk to ask that your keyboard grace you with the privilege of working? Still, while it worked, it was pretty cool.

vote-for1vote-against

Ewwwww. Refurb keyboard? I like my keyboards clean and free of (other people's) DNA, thank you very much.

vote-for4vote-against

Logitech, the makers of the amazing G510 gaming keyboard, would like to thank Razer for creating the Lycosa.

vote-for5vote-against

Worst keyboard I ever had. Went round and round with tech support on the random key no worky problem and they could never fix it. I ended up unloading it at a yard sale for $5.

Have since purchased a Logitech illuminated keyboard (forget the model no.) and it is the best!

Use several different Razer mice, but would never buy a Razer keyboard again.

vote-for1vote-against

I've had a refurbished one purchased from woot over 2 years ago, without any detectable problems on my part that i've used for my gaming computers' keyboard. (using windows 7 32bit).

I purchased another to replace a creative labs keyboard that had stopped working on my XP pro computer for work related activities. I have noticed that the usb had stopped working for my flash drives, but otherwise there's no other problems.

Note: I have not installed any software for either keyboard and I do not use macros or multimedia keys.

vote-for1vote-against

Can SOMEONE just buy the remaining ones of these and either set fire to them, or donate them BACK to China ... this is like the 50th time they have been up for sale ... ENOUGH!!

vote-for1vote-against

I bought one from Best Buy, but some keys would stop working and I would have to unplug it and plug it back in to get them working again. It was only a very occasional problem, but I emailed Razer anyway. They just told me to cut the cord, send them a photo of the cut cord, and they sent a new one free. So I soldered the cable back together and the problem doesn't happen anymore. And now I have 2 of these for the price of 1.

I also like to turn all the lights off and disable the backlight and you can't see the keys at all, it's like keyboard expert mode.

vote-for1vote-against

This keyboard has been great for me so far.. i bought from best buy about 2 months ago and no problems at all. I wouldnt have bought any other keyboard compared to this one. It was priced well and the keys feel really nice and smooth and the lights work really well. I have had no problems with it AT ALL. So i might have just gotten a good one.. but i love this keyboard..

vote-for0vote-against

I bought one off a previous woot some months back, and it has been working great ever since. The keys are easily seen in either low/no light and bright light. The media keys work fine. I sometimes hit the backlight function instead of volume, But that just means tapping it a few times to bring back the backlight.

It has two USB plugs and some complain that the the usb port on the keyboard (which appears to just be a passthrough) does not work, but mine is working fine with a mouse. I have the keyboard connected through a hub as I use it with a notebook.

I have to wonder about the folks who have problems if they were playing with macro keys and screwed something up.

vote-for3vote-against

i also got this keyboard at full price and would not even get it at this price. the button to turn the light on/off sucks, the keyboard takes up 2 usb ports, every now and then it will freeze at whatever key you hit last (pray to god its not backspace when you were typing a report)... I like the backlit keys but man this thing has a lot of problems.. i will end up using my old dell keyboard when the keys freeze up on me again and sell my POS lycosa on craigslist for like $20..

vote-for1vote-against

Razer sold a boat load of customer returned, flawed boards to Woot, who was happy to sell them to you and me.

I'm yet another individual who was burned by this POS. The thing with the keys not working, the thing with the AWFUL touch panel, the thing with the lights going off and on by themselves, the cheap feel of the construction; I could go on.

I began having to unplug and re-connect the keyboard every hour or two, until I finally threw it in the corner and replaced it with my crappy Dynex, bottom of the barrel board. Couldn't be happier I did.

vote-for1vote-against

I bought on of these almost 4 years ago, rarely have I had problems with it. Most of the issues that i did have with it came from having a bad mobo or power supply. I have been extremely ruff on it with no keys breaking or malfunctions. It is had to keep clean tho lol

vote-for1vote-against

@iesidue: What a coincidence - that is the exact one I ended up buying. I love the physical volume wheel.

vote-for7vote-against

@lifevirusx: It really makes you think. I started thinking about it, and I have it figured out.

It's a conspiracy, plain and simple. See, they're watching our every move, waiting for us to slip up. They don't want people to get good deals, so when people post that something is bad, they vote it down so that people will still buy it. When people say it's great, they vote it up. Now, on the really good stuff, they do the opposite. They vote down the postive votes and vote up the negative so people won't buy it.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why would Woot do that? That's not ethical." You're right. It's not Woot. It's being done by the CIA, NSA, NCTC, NCIX, NIC, FBI, DEA, NTSB, DOE, INR, FINCEN, FLETC, INL, NDIC and the USNCB.

Of course, they couldn't keep up on their own, so they're cooperating with ASIS, SIRC, KGB, I&SC, MI6, NCIS, Interpol, CISEN, ANO, Mossad, INIS, ODIN, ISIS, and even MSS.

Finally, to make it a truly joint effort, they had to add the PvdA and the JDF.

vote-for0vote-against

My advice is to skip on this one. Instead, get the Razer Blackwidow.

I know some are going to complain that I'm recommending a Razer product (some of their older products had huge QA issues), but the Blackwidow is EXCELLENT, especially considering that it's ~$60 at Newegg.

vote-for2vote-against

After two years of using one the rubber coating on the keys have started to wear off. Build quality is not up to snuff for something that costs $40.

vote-for2vote-against

What a piece of crap this thing is. Ordered one, it went bad within a week, took several weeks to get another from Woot. It was crap too--all the same problems everyone has already detailed. Sent both back, never got credit or any reply at all from Woot. It was, and will be the last thing I ever order from Woot. They should think very hard before putting this thing up...its a customer looser.

vote-for1vote-against

I asked Woot to cancel my order for one of these - you guys are scaring me with your reviews!

vote-for1vote-against

@lifevirusx: Funny, the top 3 comments are all negative. Not sure what negative comments that all got voted down you speak of.

vote-for1vote-against

@thefowles1: Note how long ago I said it
It has since changed

vote-for1vote-against

I received this keyboard from Woot last week. The keys worked for a few days and now only what W,A,S and D keys are working. I tried plugging it in again, but that made no difference. This keyboard is a dud. I've emailed Woot.
