Iv never heard of this show..is it worth checking out?

@trekkiegirl: the only show to really compare it too is babylon 5 so if you liked Babylon 5 you will like this.

@trekkiegirl: If you like Star Trek and Stargate: SG-1, you will like this show. It is a fantastic price (I bought them when they were $100 per season). Creighton is a little crazier than Jack O'Neill.

I love this series. I have all 4 seasons and the mini series ender. Not every episode was a home run, but this was one of the first scifi shows that carried a strong story arc over all 4 seasons. (Originally was planned for 5 seasons, but high production costs and not enough viewers cut the final season short. Mini series was used as a surrogate season 5)
Very imaginative, funny and intense. Because it is very different from most scifi, (star trek, etc.) it can take several episodes to acclimate to the series, but once you do, you are hooked. I make it a point to watch the whole series (in order) at least once a year.

@trekkiegirl: The only other sci-fi series I've really gotten into is Firefly. My friend Paula introduced me to this series last year and I was blown away. I wanted to watch more and more and more. I actually watched season 2 in 1 day I believe. There is also a movie that was made after the series to kind of wrap it up. It's called "The Peacekeeper Wars". I recommend this series to anyone that even has the slightest interest in Sci-fi series and I hope that this will help you make a decision.

hey thanks everyone! I think I will check this out sounds interesting. I have recently starting watching battlestar galactica I plan to watch firefly after that a lot of ppl have recommended it to me as well :-)

@trekkiegirl: BSG is one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time! And I'm a big new (DS9, TNG) Star Trek fan.

This show is in a league of its own. There is a strong following of people who consider it the greatest show ever. In my experience, everyone who disagrees with me didn't watch it. I'll admit that some may need to stick it out to season 2, but if you do...let's put it this way, the miniseries spoken of was demanded by the fans to finish the arc. This happened before Family Guy and Futurama were demanded back. We're still waiting for Webisodes!

One of the best sci-fi series. If you like complex, character-driven stories told over a long arc, you'll really like Farscape.

The creature effects by the Jim Henson company are also really imaginative. Not all of the aliens in this universe are human-sized bi-pedals with slightly different facial features.

@valianteffort awesome im on season 2 now the show is really getting interesting, I'm excited there is a women of sci fy convention that im going to mainly has the actresses from BSG! and I love DS9 have yet to watch TNG tho, I feel so behind on all these shows but ill get there lol

This is the best show I've ever watched. The first few episodes are pretty rough to watch but I dare you to find a better love story with action and drama anywhere. I unfortunately caught the series at the very end of season 4 and then proceeded to buy the series on DVD for about $450. A great show and a must have for sci-fi fans.

One, if not, the best show I've ever watched! I got turned on to this series during college and was hooked instantly. Fantastic effects, character development, and storyline.

Only wish they would release it on BD... I'm holding out. Good price though!

I love this show and I've watched it several times over. I've introduced this to my girlfriend and now she loves it too. It's now our goto show on Netflix. We're on season two right now, but season 3 is my favorite. It gets pretty nuts but I love the imagination involved.

Just so people know, the entire Series is on Netflix instant, in case you wanted to just stream it, or preview an episode.

Edit: Except for the 4th season, but that will probably be added by the time you watch the first 3.

@theoneill555: stargate sg1 is a good comparison I just think star trek is a different kind/style then farscape or sg1

vote-for2vote-against

SG-1 really? Space egyptians? Ugh. Farscape is heads and tails better than any sci-fi serial you have ever seen on TV. I still mourn.

I have every episode, back from when they released them in sets of four, on DVD. I think I paid about 20.00 per pop. Must have watched them countless times. Great show.

....Talyn......Starburst........ - my favorite line of all time - still gives me goosebumps

@tanght: I wouldn't hold out for Blu-ray. I'm pretty sure this series was recorded at (then) broadcast definition so there won't be a good way for them to get hi-definition pictures from a low-def source.

This is a fantastic price. I got it on Amazon maybe last month for about $5 more. Make sure to get Peacekeeper Wars as well to finish off the series.

Fantastic show. To hell with Sci-Fi for canceling their best show ever!

i would say the closest show that i've seen to farscape is the original english version of Life on Mars, at least in terms of characters and writing. yes, they are different genres, but the main characters have the same sorts of 'visions' and have the same inside jokes with the audience that none of the other charaters get. farscape is far and away better than sg-1, babylon 5 or firefly
