Actually it's not that great of a deal. It's only 2 more dollars on amazon with shipping if you have prime: http://www.amazon.com/TV-Games-Deluxe-Golden-Tee/dp/B004S572PE

Stinky Old Boots! I bought this when it was $17-ish.

Fun game but obviously not as good as the arcade version. If you realize that then it will keep you happy.

vote-for22vote-against

@sleepy35758: But it's $9 cheaper for those of us who don't have Amazon Prime or $7 worth of other stuff to order to get super-saver shipping. That's a 38% savings, so it's a decent deal in my eyes. Also, even a mere $2 savings with prime is still about a 12% savings on this low cost item so I still gotta say it's a deal.

This deal keeps coming back to tempt me at ever-lower prices. Must... resist... again...

Loved the arcade version as a kid...

vote-for10vote-against

@orrey45: That's actually very important to note. I sold one of these to a guy on eBay who thought it would be EXACTLY like the arcade version and it turned in to a big customer service issue. Graphics are still a million times better than the non-deluxe version. Here's a couple links for reviews, video, etc. from last time this was up for sale:

What age is this appropriate for? I am looking for a suitable gift.

Never mind, I took the time to read. 8+. I can always play with it!
Yeah! The price is right!

vote-for-1vote-against

I tried to buy these last time but they sold out... Just kidding Woot! seems to have an unlimited supply of these. Can everyone please buy these so I won't have to see this deal again?

vote-for6vote-against

I'm tempted at this price. I played a lot of Birdie King in the days before Golden Tee. By the time GT came out I was more into billiards.

vote-for9vote-against

For those of you who are a little too into GT, such as myself, this deal translates to only three games of Live 18 Hole Competition play.
If you stay home from the bars one night with your buddies, play this instead of the real thing and drink your own beer this purchase has already paid for itself. Great deal!

vote-for5vote-against

@mikecris: How much did the guy on eBay pay? And why did customer service get involved lol?

Did he try to return it because it was quite what he expected, or did he say you tricked him? I'm just wondering because I had to deal with them not too long ago...ended up just having to take matters into my own hands, they're "buyer protection" sucks.. did for me anyways.

vote-for4vote-against

Bought one for my father for Christmas. Loved it but the ball tracker doesn't register the ball going back now and you have to pull it back hard a few times just to get it to work. And I paid 29 plus shipping....

vote-for4vote-against

I've been watching the price drop... and this almost makes me want to hold off til the next Woot! off to see how low it will go. Everyone should know by now it's not the same as the full arcade version, but very much worth what your paying. It seems it would be more fun than golf for the Wii.

vote-for4vote-against

Its a piece of crap. I bought one from Walmart and immediately returned it. save your $15

vote-for6vote-against

Just buy the real machine off Craigslist. :P

vote-for8vote-against

So when I plug this in, will 3 of my buddies join me on my leather chair, one of whom will have a hand on my shoulder as he coaches me along, ala the product cover shot?

vote-for4vote-against

@tsfisch: Loved the arcade version as an adult and in a bar too.

I could not resist....got me last month at the higher price.

vote-for6vote-against

If I gut this thing is the trackball any good?

vote-for4vote-against

I've taken it apart many times to try to fix the track ball. It's garbage for components. Maybe if you could put a better track ball in...

vote-for5vote-against

I have this and it's pretty awesome. The graphics as 16 bit at best and after a couple of uses the trackball lags a little bit but you get what you pay for. It is not a $5000 arcade game, it's a battery powered replica.

The version I have only has 3 courses though and the woot description seems to imply that this version features more. Does anybody know if that is the case? How many courses are there?

vote-for4vote-against

Anyone know if the trackball could be salvaged for a mame machine?

vote-for4vote-against

i bought this at the $17 woot-off price a while back, too... the only thing that makes it 'deluxe' is that another company already has a "Golden Tee" home arcade game... the box doesn't say deluxe. nothing is deluxe about it.

It's ok for kids and dads and whatnot...

vote-for4vote-against

@joeymanfre: Looks like this only has 3 courses as well.

@Woot!: From the description:
Remember how you’ve crushed up to three of your friends on various fan-favorite 18-hole courses including Heather Pointe, Palm Springs and Cumberland in 9 hole, 18 hole, or Skins Solo competition.

vote-for3vote-against

@drchops: He actually thought it was broken and sent me pictures of the screen shots. I told him that's how it was supposed to be, but he could ship it back at his cost. He didn't like that answer and got customer service got involved, claiming the product arrived defective and wanted all his money back. He eventually dropped it, but it wasted a lot of time and energy.

Don't get me started on eBay buyer protection and all their other great new policies. I would really like to see another site get big enough to give them some competition.

vote-for3vote-against

The trackball is junk. Hitting it hard, soft, or in between it often times shanks.

It's kind of like real golf for me :-)

vote-for3vote-against

@mikecris: Amazon Prime will actually ship same day and arrive in two days.

Woot hasn't delivered that quickly in years.

And in Texas, sales tax adds $1.66 to the woot price.

Thanks for the link Sleepy.

I saw this retailing at JC Penny over the Christmas shopping season for $99.99. I highly doubt if it ever sold for that. Everytime I wandered though the store that section always had a % off sale of some kind going on. This is just for informational purposes only.

vote-for4vote-against

I'm in for one only because I was never good at the original arcade game and now I can suck at it at home and nobody will know.

vote-for3vote-against

@drewggernaut:

Despite what the others say I think it coudl be quite useful for this purpose. Going by a pic over at benheck's forums, there is an arcade quality trackball inside the thing. The housing, on the other hand... is a little cheap that might be what is causing the issues the others have mentioned. Either that or they are blaming the trackball when the cruddy game inside the trackball is to blame. ;)

That being said, it's still quite useful for parts. A bearing set for a arcade trackball can cost up to 30 bucks. The ball itself is usually around 10.

vote-for2vote-against

@sleepy35758: Actually if you bought prime then you should add $79 to the pricetag.

Talk about not that great of a deal! ^_^

vote-for2vote-against

My uncle brought this to my parents' house on Christmas eve. Not the greatest graphics, etc, but was definitely fun and the old folks were able to figure it out, too. I'd say it's definitely worth $15 shipped!

vote-for2vote-against

our local JCPenney is selling these for $1.

vote-for1vote-against

Thanks for the nice deal Sellout Woot. When clicking on the golden/yellow "Buy It" confirmation screen, I received an error message stating "Bad Request, Invalid Host Name, HTTP Error 400. The Requested Hostname Is Invalid". When I logged into my e-mail, I learned it gave me a Sellout.Woot Order Number confirmation e-mail anyway so I guess everything got ordered OK.

I received my 3 units yesterday. When connected to my Mitsubishi DLP TV, the video is messed up, sometimes nothing is distinguishable, other times the image is there but there is a rolling dark clouded area. The units work OK on a regular old-school tube TV. I have not heard of anyone having similar issues.
