i bought one of these 3 weeks ago, and am very happy with it! it helps that the price hasn't changed. just to clarify for anybody thinking about it: the ice cream sandwich update Sony loudly proclaimed would be released in march never came out and is not available (for the US model). this machine gets along great on Honeycomb though! And it is fairly easy to root, unless you are Mac-only, in which case you will need to make friends with a PC person or you are S.O.L.

the other important factoid is that while it is a 4G data device (with a SIM card behind the harder-to-remove cover), it is HSPA+ not LTE , so you can't just unlock it & drop in a SIM from any provider, it has to be the right flavor of 4G provider- verizon is no go, for example.

Can you play 2 games of Angry Birds at once with this?

buck80 for this?
With the Nexus 7 16GB now at $199?
Tough sell, I'd say.

I've played with this device a couple of times. It is a solidly built device, works great with Honeycomb, and is fairly snappy. However, it's an awkward design, and you can't help but feel like you are wasting half the screen most of the time. Although the built in Sony apps work really well with split screen, most apps/games do not support it, and you will be using only one screen at a time for them. All in all, a great tablet for the price, but many more out there to choose from that don't have "questionable" design.

Discussion 1st time on woot with reviews: http://tech.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5186387
I think the reviews were very harsh because this had a $549.99(without contract) $399.99(with contract) price tag with no case.

The thing for me is that as soon as i started looking at comic books on my laptop, I noticed that you could rotate the image 90° and the screen ratio fit the image perfectly . Then holding the laptop sideways I was like "hmm, if that was a virtual keyboard instead of the regular one, you could put a second page there instead when you wantex to, how come nobody makes THAT? So when i saw this on woot i was like THEY DID IT!!

Looks nice but not practical :(

It says AT&T GSM - but are these unlocked? I looked but could not find the answer or I'm missing it somewhere.

IE - can I use this w/ my Tmobile sim card.

(it is possible, but not necessarily easy, to unlock the tablet from AT&T. Again, very easy to root, on the other hand.)

The Woot write up says a fixed battery, but in other places mention is made of a removable battery. Sony seems to sell a replacement battery.

Can anyone verify whether it has a removable battery?

yes, the battery is very removable; in fact you need to take the battery out to change the microSD card. so in theory you could buy a 2nd battery & swap them through the machine to keep them both charged.
