Am I that out of touch with shoe styles? Are these the new Crocs?

@flippydoo: Same here, people keep posting this deal its killing me! Cause I keep checking to see that my size is in stock but I just don't have the monies!

Can't justify... what?

THIS IS WOOT, THESE WORDS MAKE NO SENSE TO ME

I want to buy these to wear to halloween parties in the future. Everyone will point and giggle at my feet and we'll say, "Remember how stupid people looked wearing those". It will go with my graphic equalizer tee shirt and "skinny jeans".

@tryzub: You're that out of touch. These are technically sailors shoes that have existed since the invention of rubber. The individual toe design is newer and has only existed for a couple decades now. Also unlike crocs which are cheap and terribly bad for your feet, these are expensive and the single best thing you could possibly do for your feet next to walking barefoot like you're supposed to be.

@ikisat: Mmm I like these shoes, but you've made some poorly researched assumptions in this post.

these are really good if your into cliff jumping or hiking through streams or canoeing.

@neolithicx: thanks for that. the ones i wanted were there so i got them for less then $70 instead of the usual $100

Anyone who's buying these for the first time, you can't necessarily trust the online chart to find your size. If I'd done so rather than going to a physical store to try on shoes, I'd have been several sizes off.

This is not to say you shouldn't ever get a pair of these. I'm very glad I did. They're the only shoes I wear now when I can get away with it -- I wonder how I put up with huge clunky stiff foot coverings before (that's what a regular sneaker feels like to me now).

Moosejaw (check the outlet) also has some on sale. And the site is amusing as f*; the box came with a "Sealed with a kiss" sticky on it.

GAH! I'm blocks from the actual store and I meant to go in and dig through the stock until I had my size in hand..... and now they are closed... Time to do in store pick up if I can...

@meh3884: Care to explain? I don't see a single thing in my post that is an assumption or poorly researched.

It's well documented that sea fairing travelers have been using shoes like these (minus the split toe design) pretty much forever, the ones who didn't generally just went barefoot.

It's also well documented that crocs are terrible for your feet and should never be worn by children as they can contribute to a host of development problems.

Oh, and it's also well documented that people are supposed to be barefoot or at least walk like they are no matter what they're wearing.

Based on you taking these as assumptions I might suggest researching them yourself since all 3 things I stated have already been heavily researched by others and there is a plethora of information about the reasons each is true.
