Will this work for a DSLR?

Good luck not snapping those flimsy legs off with a DSLR. Of course, you probably wouldn't be looking for a tripod like this if you needed something to support your 2lb+ beast camera. That being said, -1 on that thing's part for durability. It could sure get your camera close to the ground for some eye-popping macros, I guess.

ba chick wah wah is all I'm sayin!

Alright, maybe also useful for balancing a camera on your car's hood when you accidentally spot an amazing sunset one day and forget, OH CRAP, no tripod upon which to perch the professional camera I bring everywhere for candid full-daylight shots!

Well, lucky for you, you bought three of these on woot, and now have them stashed in your car, your bag, and in your camera case.

However, again, I must stress the wimpiness of the legs on this thing. But weigh that with missing a great shot and the price, and I'd have to say buy three. Also, bring along your RF remote, so you don't have to touch your camera while on this thing.

They're barely usable for a point-and-shoot or a webcam. Don't even think about putting a DSLR on them.

It just doesn't hold up well after time...I stopped using it in favor of a little beanbag instead. Or pony up a few more bucks and get a Gorillapod, which has some more stability.

Also, I might be spoiled. I bought this all-steel mini-tripod I saw in a pawn shop for $10, and the legs are, again, made of steel ... corrugated steel, for beating stuff with and not breaking. Compared to that, this thing is weak. But still probably a good deal, and you'd definitely be getting that shake-free shot I didn't, 'cause I didn't buy these things and am lazy.

@salsashark42: Ah, a beanbag wouldn't be a bad idea. Certainly more stable, and with much more adjustable poses.

Is this compatible with a cellphone? That's the camera of choice in our house!

Oh, those legs extend? Dear God, no. Do NOT extend those legs. Less sturdy than R/C car antennae. Okay, going to bed. Did I mention I like coffee?

1

@mjc613: Yeah, just pre-drill the hole and the tripod should screw right to it. Also, it might void your warranty, but when has that ever stopped us?

Bought one at a dollar store. My 3-yr old child broke it. Not a great deal due to 5-dollar shipping but if you really want a cheapo tripod for a cheapo price that is what you will get.

This is the exact same one they sell at my local Dollar Tree... for a dollar. It's a piece of trash.

This thing is really stupid. It only fixes itself in about 4 or 5 positions in the vertical axis, and of course, every single time, the position you want is between the settings. This is, perhaps, one of the most annoying products I have ever used. I find myself putting a magazine under it or a few pages of a book, or whatever, to get "in between" heights. Skip it, for 49 cents, it is overpriced by 49 cents.

Not worth it even if the shipping was free. Get a bean bag or a Gorillapod if you want lightweight support for a camera.

Got three of these whenever they were on either here or the regular Woot. Gave them as Christmas gifts. Everyone thought they were a great gift. One of those things that are handy to have whenever the need arises, even if it isn't often. We used one of them the day after Christmas for a family pic!
