I vaguely remember these being a lot cheaper occasionally on wbshop.com. They have sales on the DVD for $15 and bluray for $20 if I remember correctly.

"Among other things, Einstein’s theory of special relativity says that as an object’s velocity increases, time as experienced by the object will slow down when compared to another object traveling at a lower velocity. This means that a “relatively” short round trip on a space ship traveling at close to the speed of light would see you arrive home having aged less than those back on Earth. While the greater the velocities involved, the greater the effect, the theory applies to all relative movement, which describes how two observers’ varying measurements of space and time can be converted into each others frame of reference which yielded me an extra 0.00021440 nanosconds." @generaltso294: That has been true for the seasons 3 and 4 releases on blu-ray. Up until just a couple of months ago, seasons 1 and 2 haven't even been available for pre-order in the blu-ray format, just DVD.

And here is my vote for both the show, which is awesome; as well as the show on blu-ray, which is a way better viewing experience. Sure, it's a dialogue-heavy sitcom where picture isn't even necessarily the most important aspect, but between the extra special features and just how much smoother navigation/playback was, this is still a worthy upgrade. Already on my pre-order list! The old DVDs are probably going to my brother, who is also a fan.

Is this show any good? Because CBS + laugh track + traditional sitcom format + creators of Two-and-a-Half-Men makes me believe this is another dinosaur of a show, all rote formula and "hey-o" one-liners.

@dupedyetagain: The first season was ok. Now it seems like the same (profanity) over and over again just with different words.

My opinion: Watch Community instead.

Sorry Chuck Lorre fans.

@dupedyetagain: I love the show. The first 3 seasons were amazing but the 4th has started to become repetative like sutrebla15 mentioned. If you want to start watching it, you must start from season 1 to get an understanding of each character's personality and quirks. Alot of dialogue in the later seasons won't be as funny without knowing the baseline story from season 1.

I hear alot of people say that they don't like the sheldon character, etc. but I think its only because they weren't exposed to the show in the correct order to understand him :)

@dupedyetagain: It's true that the show has lost some of its original fire as it has worn on through its seasons, but I'll second the vote for giving it a shot *from the beginning. Still one of my favourite shows just because of the characters.

As to the laugh track, this one is actually filmed live, so it's a little different than some other shows that people bash. Probably one of the only shows with a laugh track that I actually like to watch.

@arosiriak: That's one reason why I can't watch sitcoms anymore, the laughter of the audience/laughtrack. My father pointed it out to me as a young child and from then on sitcoms were ruined for me.

This is my 74 year old Mom's favorite show. She watches it all day on TBS and local TV. Her birthday is May 5th and it would have made an excellent gift. I hate network sitcoms, but I am the biggest GEEK. This should be my favorite show, not my mom's. Prefer, HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ sitcoms. Love CURB and Californication.

This show doesn't use a laugh track, like How I Met Your Mother (which is still an awesome show) or anything. It's recorded live, and then the audience's live laughs are put on top of the take that makes it into the final cut.

Not 100% authentic, sure, but you're watching TV. How real can you expect it to be?

Also, while we're on the subject, there is one particular laugh in laugh tracks that is like jagged glass in my brain. Search Youtube for "how i met your mother annoying laugh" and its the first result. Completely and utterly distracting. "Ho-ho-HOO HEE-hee-hee"
