I have one of these players. IMHO, this is a GREAT deal. It's about half the price of new, the wireless is pretty much flawless (after an update, that is, when I first got it, it was difficult to set up - now it's been changed and it is very easy.) Netflix streaming is great! They can be a little loud before the movie starts, but when it starts, there's no noticeable noise...

Terrible DVD Player. I bought this from Best Buy about 1 year ago with an Insignia LCD TV as a package deal. Primarily for the Netflix streaming
- Takes 5 to 10 minutes for Netflix movies to start playing, very slow, constantly drops the wifi connection even though the router is less than 10 feet away, then another 5 to 10 minutes to load the movie
- Proprietary Remote, meaning there are no universal codes to use other remotes
- DVD Player is NOISY and has become noisier, sounds like the player is grinding the DVD
- Extremely poor customer service
- Firmware Updates seem to take away functionality, for example, when I first bought this it would play .AVI movies, but after a firmware update that functionality was no longer available. It also seems like every update since has made the Netflix functionality worse.

@lp115, I think your network problems may have more to do with your router or interference than this player.

I have this player and its lightning fast loading Netflix. I'm with cuoiobar. This is a steal at $83 shipped.

Until more wireless players come out black friday you cannot beat this deal for an extra blu-ray player.

Don't waste your money on this one. I purchased one through another deal site about a month ago despite warnings from various unhappy customers all over the Internet. It lasted long enough to get through the setup procedure then failed to a green screen. I tried all of the recommended reset processes; nothing worked. I returned the product and was at least offered a refund. I've had success with refurbished, in mean "factory-renewed", products in the past, but this one is simply not worth the hassle.

I know some people have complained of this particular model, but I have had this since last Christmas and I have no complaints. Also, it has played every type of file (AVI, MKV, etc.) from my flash drive and the wireless works flawlessly.

I have this same player, works great with netflix. I don't have the best connection but it only takes like 30 seconds to a minute to load a whole movie. 4.5/5

I'm cool with this probably not being top-of-the-line hardware for a sweet price... However, in the event that it's DOA, does anyone have any experience with this seller?

edit: I did take a look at them here: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/GearXS and it's pretty dismal... But I'm also aware that most people go to that site to complain, not to compliment.

I have had this exact player for about 4 months. At first, I too lost wi-fi connection but this problem was alleviated with software fix. However, I have since moved my DSL Gateway to the Entertainment center (since I had more internet equipment there than at my PC desk) and have a wired connection.

It does really well with Netflix and Pandora. Just received another disk that has a proprietary PPV service but do not see that I will ever use it.

The proprietary remote bothers me but I have a comfy chair with packet for my three remotes anyway. Picture quality is good. I have no sound problems with disk play.

STAY AWAY! I bought this from BB last christmas and nothing but a peice of crap! Returned it a week later and kicked in another $100 for a Sony. Skipped DVD's and was horribly slow. NOT WORTH $3.00.

I've had this player for about 6 months and it is great! Only had a problem with wi-fi once. Even moved it to another room and lost nothing. This is a great price, too because I paid $159 I believe on sale at Best Buy. Also, they just sent out an upgrade for the firmware which adds CinemaNow. Still the best you can get with these features for the money.
