Remember, "Omron" is just a mixed up "moron."
a gorram $30 pedometer?!?! :O
What a weird coincidence! I dusted off my pedometer tonight only to see that the battery had died (about a 6-month battery life with continuous use). I'm going to pick up a new one at CVS tomorrow for a couple bucks.
I have this exact same model which I bought a little over a year ago. I was curious to see how active I actually was in my day-to-day routine. I had done some research that showed many Americans only averaged about 3,000 steps a day. 10,000 daily steps is needed to be categorized as someone with an "active" lifestyle. This came about because I was using online tools to access calorie requirements and nutrition and such and they all wanted to know if my lifestyle was active, sedentary, light active, etc. I really wasn't sure where I stood so one thing led to another and I ended up with this pedometer after reading a lot of reviews and consumer guides.
Well, I did use it for about 5 months and was averaging 15,000 steps a day! Great motivator to keep active.
you can get this same model for a little more on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HJ-720ITC-Pedometer-Advanced-Management/dp/B000MN92WM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1262788187&sr=1-3 , but you can get it with free 2 day shipping with a trial of amazon prime (deal.woot has this deal too)
This pedometer looks kinda big. The ones I use are about half this size (but cheaper). Random info: It takes me approx 1 hour & 20 minutes to walk 10,000 steps continuously.
