Awesome deal. Already owned the paperback, but I like kindle books much much more. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks. I do miss the TV series ("Legend of the Seeker"). Sigh.

@marisano Dude that TV show was so babe. Their Depiction of Zedd was TERRIBLE

While I don't feel this is the best writing in the world, I did really enjoy the story.

When I was in grade school I thought this was good stuff up until about book 5 of the series. I wonder how well it would stand up to my current scrutiny...

I absolutely loved the TV show. After it got canceled I wanted to know what happened with the rest of the story. The books and the TV shows might as well have been two separate things altogether. The TV series left out soooo much just in the first book alone.

@quevim: Ya, I've recently re-read the whole series getting ready for the newest book and I can't believe how preachy and ridiculous Goodkind gets towards the end. It almost ruins the whole series. Not entirely, but it gets really old really fast. Omen Machine was still pretty good though. Not the best writing, but still good story telling. Wizards' First Rule will always be a favorite fantasy book for me though.

Loved the books and the tv show, I know they werent the same but both were fun for what they tried to do. Its too bad the tv show lost out when you look at the other stuff on tv..terra nova? falling skies? meh..tv show was better..

anyhow

how come this deal says 'free shipping' ? does that really matter with kindles? glad i got the app for my evo..;)

Note to anyone thinking about picking up this series. The first two books are the best (and the prequel 'Debt of Bones'), The third book is alright, but after that the quality of the writing just keeps going down, and Goodkind gets more and more preachy with each book.

These books are dreadful. There are literally 1000s of better fantasy books that you should spend time reading. Not only are the books bad, Goodkind is an in-joke in fantasy writing circles as a hack. Stay away.

The first two books and the prequel were very enjoyable. The other 9 books of the main series are pretty much an excuse for Goodkind to rant against the evils of Communism.

Note, I am not saying that Communism is evil per se. I make no statement supporting or condemning Communism. However, it seems like half of each of the last 9 books could be boiled down to:

COMMUNISM BAAAD!!! INDIVIDUALITY AND PERSONAL FREEDOMS GOOOOD!!!

@seeu: Thanks for the info. I'll try this out on my Kindle.

The series was highly satirical of capitalism vs communism but honestly, I somewhat I enjoyed the political points. I'm very surprised so many people seemed to only really enjoy the first few books. Yeah, Faith in the Fallen (Book 6 I think) onward may have gone a bit overboard with the anti-communism but I loved the whole series.

I mean...it's not like the whole point of the series is anti-communism. There's great story telling.

I loved the series. Yes, the first couple of books were better IMHO, but the rest are still fun. Kind of like when you like a band's "early" stuff, but they're still a favorite.

As others have said, this is one of the few books Goodkind wrote that actually maintained some semblance of originality. For what it's worth this is an awesome book, but by book 5 or so you realize that Goodkind is some kind of Ayn-Rand-devotee...not to mention the fact that essentially every book relies on recurring plot devices, including a main character being kidnapped and raped and some as-of-then-unknown creature/force/power that threatens to destroy/control the world.

You mean they are finally getting ebooks of this? fantastic. I had to buy all the physical books

I just read this. Decent book- fantasy without being a Tolkein clone.
