Free shipping on a download?! I'll take twelve!

Sarcasm aside, that's a darn good price.

So.. I could be tempted.. but how is this improved over Civ IV?

This is a great game, when it works. The constant freezing of the game is a severe annoyance. I would suggest that if you have any questions about whether your comp will have a problem with this game, then you need to check the interwebs for conflicts with hardware and CIV V. just my $.02.

Darn, looks like it's back up to $22.80.

This was the first Civ game I've played and I got is on a friend's suggestion. There are a number of people who said it is a serious departure from previous versions and it isn't as good and blah and whine. I can't comment on any of that, I can however comment on Civ V. I've played a lot of PC games and this was the first game quite like this I've come across. I enjoyed playing it but I didn't find it terribly intuitive and it took me 4-5 times through the easiest setting to feel like I was playing with any finesse. For $9 it'll occupy a lot more of your time than seeing a movie.

I have played this game on three machines and while the first didn't really care for it they all ran it without any freezing or bugging.

Laptop 1 - Core2Duo 2.0GHz 3GB DDR2 Nvidia 8400M GT 256 MB
Laptop 2 - i5 430 2.26Ghz 8GB Nvidia 360M 1 GB
Desktop 1 - AMD X6 3.5 GHz 8GB ATI 5770 1GB

The game will run on lesser specs (see Laptop 1) but it stresses out the GPU pretty well.

I've never seen so many poor reviews for anything before...

@promyst: Yeah, I was thinking about that one as well... Though that was more of a protest of the DRM...
