@the7654: I mean I haven't installed the ones I haven't wanted to play yet. That I never played much, really. Like that sucky NASA game.

I have installed Portal, Portal 2, Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City, which is pretty much the extent of my gaming. All of them work fine.

@grabby: It worked on Precise 64... that's what I'm running. I guess that's why it's still a beta.

vote-for1vote-against

@craigthom: Do you mean you haven't installed all of your Steam games on Win 8 but the ones you have installed have worked or that not all the games you have installed on Win 8 have worked but luckily the important ones have?

@bennetsen: I don't think there is any game you can buy through the Steam Store computer interface that will give you access to a PS3 copy but if the game is playable on Mac and PC it will say Steam Play symbol and you will be able to install it on both platforms. Similarly I assume you can't buy a Valve game on the PSN or a retail Valve game for PS3 and get access to the PC versions. (Some Linux smexyness too.)
Also not all Steam games work on the PS3.

Also also what everyone says about only buy games that are a daily deal or a flash sale because they maybe further discounted as daily deals on later days or on the last day but it doesn't really matter because Gabe deserves your money more than you do.

Ok, Now I'm in for Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 to go with my Skyrim.

They make it MUCH to easy to purchase these games :P

Always loved the PoP games. Also purchased Mirror's edge about 2 years back and had a great time playing that one. Great deals.

@cyberpenguin: Oh good. Thank you for posting this. I have to cross-boot to Windows to play Steam games and it's irritating to say the least. I can't wait to try out the Steam client for Linux. I hope it works on Natty and not just Precise.

EDIT: Nope. Not for 64-bit anyway. "Error: Wrong architecture 'i386'".

I think I still have my original Money Island CD/Disks around here somewhere. But for $2.50 I'm in!

Awesome sale, but a bit disappointed the Borderlands sale doesn't include any of the Borderlands 2 DLC.

Remember the rule for happy Steam Sale purchasing: Only buy games that are on a deal or a flash sale until the last day, that way you won't be going "Doh!" when something you bought is suddenly cheaper. Also check Amazon as they seem to like trying to outdo Steam on their digital download sales nowadays.

@riuele2: Gah, Same, Same, Same...... It's sooooo hard to say nooooo. (But I just said it.... felt good......) Still, Must... Have.... GAMES.....

And for those of you running Linux; Valve just opened up the beta test to the public.

Here's a deb file for Ubuntu et. al.

@durans: You can install Steam (and the games you buy on Steam) on all your computers, but remember, some games save on their servers, others save on the PC you're using. You may or may not have access to all your saved games on all your PC's.

vote-for2vote-against

Oh no, not steam sales. I can see my bank account getting a little lower in funds already.

@pstrnutbag44: It really is incredible. I used to think I was a console gamer, but I'm PC all the way now. We have 5 gaming stations, and I love to be able to send gifts to my kids when a good game's on sale. I don't have to worry about scratched discs or downloading updates myself, Steam takes care of everything. I could not give more love (and money) to Steam. Those Humble Bundles are incredible, too. :)

The only problem is, with all the downloading we do, I tend to go over my 250 GB limit with AT&T DSL, but they only charge me $10 extra...so what the hey!

vote-for4vote-against

Just as a random thought: Isn't it an awesome time to be a gamer? Casual gamers, hardcore gamers, any kind really? All these digital deals we get from Amazon, GOG, Steam, GameFly, GreenManGaming, etc.
All these options and deals have drawn me right back into playing on my PC. Loving EVERY second of it!

vote-for3vote-against

Sweet! Just picked up The Hitman Collection!

vote-for4vote-against

Awesome - purchased! Last year's sale did major damage to the bank account!

vote-for5vote-against

The ability to hold a gift in reserve is a nice feature, I picked up a spare Borderlands ($4.99) so I can offer it to someone later.

vote-for2vote-against

Do all the Steam games work on ps3, or only special designated ones?

vote-for5vote-against

I recently wiped my Vista computer and installed Windows 8. I had no problem installing Steam and all my games again. Well, not all of them yet. Just the ones I've wanted to play.

You can also remove them to free up some space, then download them again later.

vote-for18vote-against

Steam takes more money out of my wallet than my wife does. Still....I love her (and the wife too).

vote-for3vote-against

@henryhargrove: Yeah, that's a majorly awesome deal. I love that steam now lets you "purchase as a gift" and hold it in inventory to give or "open" it yourself later.

I, however don't like their current multiple copies policy, especially on a deal like this where there are a bunch of titles and I already own quite a few of them. I'm gonna have to just give the package away (can't stand the thought of the duplicate copies vanishing into oblivion) to my cousin since I own around 70% of the games in it. I was hoping they'd have each game as a separate item (& was willing to take the $25 risk knowing I could pass it along to a friend) in my inventory so I could activate what I don't own and give the dupes away.

vote-for4vote-against

Yup, Steam is awesome in a multi-computer household. I play RUSE and TF2 at my work computer over lunch, and then my 5-year-old logs in with my account at home on his box to play Terraria. Then he goes to bed, and I log in on my home box for more fun...
Steam just sends an email activation code when you log in from a computer it hasn't seen before..no problem with having my account on four rigs, as long as only one is logged in at a time.

vote-for10vote-against

Wow, the THQ bundle is a pretty ridiculous amount of gaming for $25/

With steam you install the client and log on to download/access your games. I believe you can only run one copy of the game for one login of the client simultaneously.

vote-for3vote-against

So are these downloadable games only?
I have 2 computers at home, can i instal it in multiple computers?

vote-for6vote-against

@riuele2: Steam keeps track of your previous purchases. If you go to the game's page, it will tell you that you already own it. I also purchased a lot of games through humble bundle so it's nice that they provide steam activation keys. This helps me to track my previous purchases.

vote-for16vote-against

now as long as i can remember to not buy games that i already own but haven't played yet, i might have some money left over after this week.
