@rhmurphy: Ah, OK. I tried to put together a "new" package and it automatically selected phone service for me and greyed it out. I bought an Ooma thinking I would replace Verizon's phone service, but I don't even see a line item on my bill for phone service.

I'm not interested in setting up an Ooma if it's not going to save me money. I have wireless service through Verizon as well, so maybe I'll look into combining those. I think that discount is like $10.

@nucleardrugs: I have read in the forums that it does, but you have to disable HD Voice by dialing an extension first.

@cush1978: Verizon gives you a discount if you triple-play (phone, cable, internet). You lose some of that discount if you drop phone service. So, it'll cost you. However, I got that lost discount back by combining my mobile phone service into "one bill" and by using automatic bill payment.

My local phone is currently Vonage, but I'm going to replace that with Ooma once the contract is up as Vonage is considerably more expensive.

Does anyone else have this with Verizon FiOS as their ISP? I only ask because I looked at dropping my phone from my FiOS plan, but it doesn't look like that's an option that saves money. It appears you get digital phone service "included" with your FiOS subscription.

I considered Ooma Telo, but in the end got an Obihai with Google Voice and have been incredibly satisfied.

@nucleardrugs: It works with my all-in-one printer's fax machine. You have to dial a prefix (*88 or something, can't remember..) but I've faxed several times and had no problems. Never had to receive a fax, so I don't know if that would work or not.

Buy it. Just buy it. I'm tired of cheer leading for Ooma every time it comes up, but I've had mine for over two years and love it!

Faxing is hit or miss with the Ooma. Check out the forums on the Ooma website.

I've used it once with my Ooma to send fax.

Does anyone know if this supports a Fax machine? Yes, people still use them ; )
