I've never heard of this game. Is it any good? Does anyone play it online?

If you haven't played this franchise, or this game, and you wish to play multiplayer, I'd be hesitant. At this point most of the players on the pulic matchmaking lists are very good. You will be killed in a matter of seconds in most games. The single player is pretty good, but I don't know if it is worth all that money.

This game is great. It doesn't change much up from MW2 but that is ok because it was a great game also. I love the multiplayer in this. I have about 48 hours into the multiplayer. And that isn't counting all the hours I have into the spec ops missions.
If you are in LOVE with the way Battlefield 3 multiplayer is then you most likely will not care for this game. I own and enjoy both for their differences but I prefer MW3 to battlefield.
(Queue flame wars about how much better Battlefield 3 is to MW3)
@wilfbrim: This is also true for any shooter game that has been out for a few months. If you go onto a battlefield 3 match as a Noob you would also get annihilated.

For the record, I do really enjoy this game. I agree that it is not much of a leap forward for the franchise, but still has some nice enhancements. I also enjoy Battlefield 3, but I agree they are very different styles. I prefer MW3, but probably only because I do not have a group of people to form a regular squad with.

I love the game but do not like that you have to also purchase the COD Elite add-on just to download the new map packs. Especially when Elite costs more than the game.
I was a HUGE fan of Black Ops and played that game constantly, I absolutely hate MW3. They took all the good from Black Ops and threw it out the window. Save your money and borrow a friends copy for a day to verify that you will like the play style of this game.
@zapp brannigan: I think you are the only person I know who liked Black ops over the MW series.
@mirrorz: You don't have to buy Elite to get the map packs. You just have to wait until March to get the map packs.
Don't waste your money, this is nothing more than another garbage sequel to a series of games aimed at 13yr old kids with no guardianship. Completely unrealistic, no recoil on the guns, super-fast reloading, and a community who does nothing but worry about their KD ratios and how many nukes they've gotten.
@zapp brannigan: Maximum Trolling!!! No one liked Black Ops. Horrible game although I did like the run-to-dive feature.
Which is better: MW2 or MW3?
@caisburning: Most old schoolers are going to say MW2. I liked the solo campaign story in MW2 better but I liked the multiplayer of MW3 better.
@segafanalways: Actually, I'd say most "oldschoolers" would prefer to add the option of saying the original Modern Warfare was better.

i was sad they took out the gungames and wager matches ... i actually liked those a lot
@shadowblue42: It's not that they took them out, it's just not something InfinityWard or Sledgehammer do. The modern warfare series are not Treyarch produced games which is also why there are no zombie modes in that series either.
I like the series, always have, I've been playing COD games for years (since the original). I started getting into 'em again with the 360 and Call of Duty 2.. and I hate to say it, but @domainloco's description isn't 100% inaccurate lol.. it's far from a "garbage game," but it has been overrun by angry little kids who talk about "KD ratio's" and "10th prestige lobbies" more than they talk about um... Pokemon cards(?).
I also don't like how greedy they've gotten..and the whole "Elite" subscription embodies that greed to the fullest.
It used to be about making the BEST game possible. Now it's about maximizing profitability. They intentionally make half-baked games, so they can sell you the rest of them later..
And then on top of making you PAY for maps that should have been included in the original game - they try to charge you to get the maps ON TIME lol.. or as they call it "early" lol..
What do the games end up costing w/ all maps and DLC? Like $100-120+?
Lemme know if BestBuy matches this.. I have a some credit I can use :D
