I never knew who/what cowboom is and how reliable they might be. I really appreciate the additional information!

vote-for-8vote-against

Blah! So you just have to sit on the page and hit refresh endlessly?

vote-for6vote-against

I've gotten quite a few items from cowboom and have been very pleased every time. their 'condition' rating is really severe - so you usually get items in better condition than you're expecting.

their tablet flash sales are amazing too. And yea their flash sales are kind of like themed woot-offs.

vote-for18vote-against

@polishemt: That's exactly what I was thinking. It sound's like a wootoff! when they were fun.

That's exactly the point!!

vote-for28vote-against

Here is a quick glace of their condition grade.

1 Item is physically broken
2 Item is cracked or dented
3 Item has dents or dings
4 Significant scratches or scuffs
5 Some scratches and/or signs of use
6 Some fine scratches or minor scuffs
7 Overall good condition
8 Almost new, minor signs of use
9 Like New

Read your purchases carefully. Many of these will be missing things like power adapters, controllers, av cables, etc. don't forget things like the Wii need sensor bars and such. They do list what is and what isn't in it. Just be aware you may need to fill in the blanks.

vote-for4vote-against

I've also noticed the deals are not all equal. Wii's seem set at $50 + $5 shipping. However, some are only consoles, and some appear to have everything except a controller or console stand. Choose wisely... :)

vote-for3vote-against

I knew they were owned by Best Buy, but I didn't know that everything was used or open box. I could swear I've seen a new rated item every now and again, but still really good info on the company.

vote-for1vote-against

Got a Wii from the last flash sale for $40, only missing the sensor bar, which I got off ebay for $13 with two rechargeable batteries and a wiimote docking station. $58 for a wii aint bad.
Condition was a 5 and it looks like new. Very happy with the purchase.

I just wish they would sell PS3's during these flash sales.

vote-for9vote-against

I was hoping for a Ps2 like in the picture. :(

vote-for11vote-against

I bought 2 blackberry playbooks 2 weeks ago, one level 5, one level 6, honestly, they both look brand new, level 5 was in bubble wrap, level 6 was in the original box with owners manuals (all as stated), understandably each item is separate, but based on the actual hardware, I will definitely do business with Cowboom again.
(Oh, and since both were so good, I returned one, very quick and painless return process to boot).

vote-for1vote-against

They do have PS3s as part of the flash sale. I have a 40gb one in my cart rated a 4 missing only the Spiderman blu-ray disc and and HDMI cable for $109. I'm trying to decide if the price is low enough to take a chance.

vote-for2vote-against

Ill be happy with a muddufuddn' PS2

vote-for4vote-against

They have a PS2 like the one in the picture! Grade 5. $35 + $5 shipping. Comes with everything but the manual.

vote-for1vote-against

@alexanderluthor: PS2's are up!

AAAANNNNND, They're gone!

vote-for11vote-against

I've used Cowboom before and not had good luck with them. As mentioned, they are the clearing house for Best Buy's returns, and a quick eval doesn't always catch the problem for which the item was returned. Each time, I received an item that looked good, or at least good enough, but had an internal problem that didn't surface for a couple days to a week.

They accepted returns, but claimed they had no replacement units to send, despite still having them listed for sale, so I got refunds.

If you want to roll the dice and hope for a buyer's remorse return, good luck. Otherwise, their repair or evaluation system seemed a little lacking to me.

vote-for6vote-against

I had purchased tablets and MP3 players from cowboom and never had any issues. But I always purchased in 7+ condition or refurbished. A Zune HD 64GB I purchased over 2 years ago still working great. Also everything else I had purchased. Just need to make sure to read all the information.

vote-for1vote-against

Anecdotal data point:
I got an Asus tablet grade 7 some time ago and it was actually "like new" and really great.

vote-for7vote-against

Did someone say non woot, wootoff?!?!

vote-for2vote-against

@johnt007871: I see that too. The first deal I saw was $50 for a Wii that came with basically everything you need (missing was a Nunchuck, but I don't remember mine coming with one when I bought it new). Next up was one that came with most everything but a nunchuck and a light bar. Same price. Now there's one for $50 that comes only with the console. You're on your own for everything else. All of them grade 4.

$50 for a console that's on its way out and probably needs another $50 in parts (making it $20 less than I can buy brand new right now from Target as a bundle that also comes with a couple of games) hardly seems like a deal.

vote-for2vote-against

@wookee: i agree. and one CANNOT COUNT on the description being accurate. last wii sale i bought a 5 with almost all the extras included. what i got was a beat to heck, broken console missing pieces of it and a power cord in a box. there's no detailed invoices(i didn't even get one in the box at all), and unless you do a screen capture you don't have any proof of what you purchased when customer service tells you "no, that's how it was described".

vote-for1vote-against

Interesting site, thanks. Where do they put the condition grade? I looked at laptops and gaming consoles and did not see any numbered conditions.

vote-for3vote-against

@darkinc: For the record I ordered a phone from them that was listed as a 5 and was in pristine condition when I received it. I almost ordered a 3ds from them a while back and many of their 4's were in what looked like perfect condition while others did have some signs of wear (it seems like they are grading low to set expectations low).

vote-for1vote-against

I've checked on this deal 5-6 times and it's been some form of a Wii every time. Well, it was a DS once, but still - too much wii, too. much. wii.

vote-for1vote-against

Has anyone seen an XBox go through? I've only seen Wiis whenever I have checked.

vote-for3vote-against

I got a Wii from cowboom in their woot-off console flash sale last year. It was playable - the only two major issues were 1) the sensor bar came with obvious scratches that killed the signal (had to go buy another bar) and 2) the machine itself made WAAAY too much noise when spinning/reading the disc.

I ultimately gave up on it, and figured I'd take the loss. I personally won't buy from cowboom again, although it sounds like some people have good luck with them.

vote-for1vote-against

anyone know the differences between the wii models? rvl 001, rvlskrp2, etc. In particular, which remotes come with which models? Google has not been much help in this department.

vote-for1vote-against

I can't get it to sell me any of the things it shows as the current sale. I reload, click "buy", and it tells me its sold out. So I reload, the item might change, click "buy", and the same thing happens. Is anyone else having trouble with this site?

vote-for1vote-against

quick guys, if you get on there right now, you can buy a Wii!!!!

vote-for3vote-against

I've only ordered from Cowboom once. Ordered a brand new older model iPod. They sent me a new netbook instead. I love my netbook.

..

vote-for1vote-against

Ive clicked on this a few times today and all I have seen is Wii s. Has there been anything else?

vote-for1vote-against

Just saw an XBox 20GB go by, $69, missing a controller.

vote-for1vote-against

@djames42: Agreed. The gf and I are probably just going to pick up one of the newer black ones with wii sports/resort new and get some refurb accessories at gamestop next door. Only about 20 bucks more than playing scavenger hunt to collect all the missing parts these require, plus it's new with a warranty.

For any interested:
Google search yeilds Sensor bars, nunchucks, av/ac cables for under $10 each from places like newegg. So you can factor that into your decision. The wii remotes and games are what seem to be pricy.

vote-for1vote-against

Their site rotates through different deals on the homepage. Keep refreshing and you'll eventually get a different deal.

vote-for1vote-against

Man, took about 40 times before I finally found a flash PS3 in stock. 160gb, with controller for $140. Not too bad.

vote-for1vote-against

@bigshtank: NICE!!!

I miss those days during a woot! off. To me, that is so much fun! And when you score what you want...what a VICTORY!!!!!!

Ohhh the days when I won my flushlights.....

vote-for1vote-against

Bought a Wii from them last year for about the same price. Still works great.

vote-for1vote-against

@coondogg97: Got it when they put up the out of stock screen when you try to add the item to your basket. Only way to get one. Good luck.

vote-for-18vote-against

Wow. $50 for a Wii with nothing included???

$150 for a PS3???

$120 for an Xbox???

Do you at least get free anal lube with the rape?

vote-for1vote-against

@spyder69696969: You have to consent to it, therefore it is not rape.

vote-for8vote-against

@spyder69696969: Even though your comment made us cringe and feel embarrassed we're the same species as you, it's still a more intelligent comment than I would have expected from someone named "spyder69696969".

So....um, good job I guess.

vote-for1vote-against

The Wiis that have recently been on are not very good deals...get a significantly scratched Wii without any Wii-motes for 50 bucks. By the time you buy the necessary accessories you're saving 30 bucks and ending up with a scratched console that might not last 6 months.

vote-for1vote-against

"Nintendo Wii New Super Mario Brothers Bundle"

Does not include New Super Mario Brothers.

Nice.

vote-for1vote-against

@dlcarst77: I got a Wii from here over a year ago and it's been working flawlessly. Actually came better than they had described with an extra controller, controller cover things, and had a few games on the system. I thought it was a pretty good deal for $70.

vote-for0vote-against

Gamestop sells refurbished consoles that actually include the things you need and are not in "nearly destroyed" condition. Cowboom seems to be quite the ripoff, if you ask me.

vote-for-3vote-against

@starbob: u should go talk to spyder, cause u got screwed son....
