These should be a collectors item!

I figure with this and the laminator being sold over on sellout.woot.com, I could make a fortune on ebay

I saw this in a store this Christmas season, and I looked over the box carefully. It was the last Hostess branded thing I ever saw, so far. The box has a tiny disclaimer box on it that says something like "The recipes included are not necessarily the original Hostess Twinkie recipe." Or something like that. The box also had a usual disclaimer of how the Hostess and Twinkie brand names are used under license to the actual manufacturer of this item.

In case anyone cares. Still this is the official, branded, licensed by original Hostess, almost-a-Twinkie maker set.

@capguncowboy: Who would buy squished flat twinkies that are sealed between plastic?

@zapp: Surely you have seen the crap people will buy on eBay. Just say they were found under the seat of a Hostess truck bought at auction and you are golden.

if you purchase from their ebay listing which is $1 more, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hostess-DIY-Twinkie-Bake-Set-Includes-Recipe-Pastry-Bag-Decoration-Tips-/350712034605?afepn=5335869999&campid=5335869999&PID=1225267&pt=Bakeware&hash=item51a810f52d you get 1 yr warranty vs the 1 month here. just don't know how they will replace it once stock's gone. thanks

Twinkies are very likely to return to the market. They're actually in the process of auctioning the Hostess assets as we speak... I would guess the Twinkie brand will be back on the shelves before the end of the year.

One thing I hadn't realized is that Dolly Madison snack cakes (remember all those Charlie Brown ads in the 70's and 80's?) were also part of Hostess, and not available right now either. Those two companies used to be 'arch rivals'...

We've been out of twinkies at our commissary for months. Just last week there was boxes upon boxes of them. They must've opened the freezers and found the stash or something. Apropos to this deal, I have this set and they turn out pretty well. Some of the chemical taste is missing though. For some that's a plus, I imagine.

4 words. Little Debbie Cloud Cakes. Twinkies are a thing of the past.

@offline999: I've eaten my share of Little Debbie's, but always bought them because they were cheap, not because they were tasty.

I always considered Hostess to be the top of the line. Then Dolly Madison. And then about 10 pegs lower, Little Debbie. Not that I dislike Debbies, they just aren't as good...

Let me know how that works out for ya.

From what I understand, they still make Twinkies in Canada by a company that licensed the brand. It's not actually Hostess making them, but they're still Twinkies.

Edit: After a quick bit of research, it looks like the company, Saputo, actually owns the brand name outright.

@tsfisch: The same is true of Drake's, which sold similar products in the northeast.

@rayzerli: When I signed on to JustDeals, they said that the warranty is for a year.
