am I understanding this correctly: There are two of these for $800 or is this called a 2-pack because the rapper is back from the dead?

Yes - you get 2 TVs at the Costco.com site. I haven't read any reviews on Proscan TVs yet, but I noticed the contrast ratio is low.

The contrast may be low but at least the response time sucks.

@mtreighie: contrast ratio is the biggest garbage of measurement.... this needs to be standardized. if i had a guess it's probably not that great but you can't go by any of those numbers. all in all 2 1080p tvs for $800 is a pretty good deal in my book if you're lookin for cheap... I'll bet they make some decent computer monitors.

@mtreighie: 8 ms
Not the greatest for FPS gamers but not the worst I've seen out there.
Everything else looks pretty standard, cept the Resolution is pretty low for a screen that size in my personal opinion.

@tehbug resolution is 1920x1024 which is standard for any 1080p set!

Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Also, the previous poster was right about Contrast Ratio measurements. There is no standardized way of measuring, so comparing the numbers from different manufacturers is a crapshoot.

A terrific deal. Two 1080 sets for $400 each!
And Proscan is a pseudo-RCA name, which doesn't matter since all television sets are made by the same 92 year old man in China...

yeah they're made by the same 92-year old man but different companies have dibs on certain times of the day which has a huge effect on quality.

I have one of these TVs and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's got a great picture and there is probably no better bang for the buck. My roommate has a 40" Samsung LN40B550 and you can see the difference but not by a lot. The back-lighting on the Proscan is not quite as good, a bit uneven really, but this is only noticeable when the picture is completely dark. If Costco is extending the warranty by 2 years then I'd say this is one hell of a deal.

I wanted to get this one, but it looks like the deal has already expired.

There should be a way for users to flag deals as expired so i don't get my hopes up :p

@killerdio: There is -- you click the "tattle" link under the deal description and select "expired" from the pulldown menu.
