Loved the book as a child and always felt this movie captured it best, Gene Wilder did a great pseudo-mad Wonka. Off to Target!

Let's not kid ourselves...I'm partial to this version (mostly because I love Wilder), but Tim Burton's version is way more loyal to the book. As a child, I read the books cover-to-cover at least once a year.

I still think the rowing portion in the movie where he was singing the song was pretty scary, then manson did a cover and it really brought out how creapy that part was lol
