When I think "Executive" I think "Wal*Mart"

and herpes

seriously? you guys are being pretty harsh on woot over this.

i mean there's a kindle (new not refurb) for 150 - thats a good deal no matter how you shake it.

this case is a good deal too.

you act as though deals.woot is somehow higher class than walmart stuff - have you seen the deals lately? heh

I've been liking the new Wal-Mart Deal of the Days (they only started that a few weeks ago), the official updated Amazon case is $35, this is similar, and a great price.

Some people have reviewed the old and new Kindle 2 Cases as cracking the kindle because of the hinge (like if you purposely try to bend it at an angle), this case would prevent that.

Goes nicely with the Woot Deal of the day. Wonder when Amazon will acquire Wally World.

Looks like you guys sold Wal-Mart out of Kindle cases:

sniff So proud...

I will update this thread if they decide to add more stock.

@hobbit: I was wondering what impact the Amazon/Woot deal would have on the deals.woot side. My question has been (partially) answered.

@mtrlgrl: well we post deals from Amazon anyway. I am almost over the shock.

@hobbit: I was thinking we'll see more Amazon items under sponsored.

I bit on the Kindle last night, didn't see this deal on the sleeve until it was sold out. After a little research, looks to me like this is (was) not only cheaper than most of the alternatives but also looks a lot nicer - though noteworthy that I couldn't find reviews for any of these Merkury products. Nevertheless: Woot, if you can get Walmart to get more of these in stock (can you even do that?), or provide a link to a good alternative site or product, I'd really appreciate it!

@russchott: That isn't quite the same one offered earlier, and actually not cheaper once you add shipping (but the difference is pretty minor, since Walmart charged tax).

But I ran with it and a little more searching turned up the Executive version and even for a buck less. http://www.amazon.com/M-k2c210-Amazon-Kindle-Executive-Folio/dp/B003EXOVM8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1278008344&sr=1-1

Thanks!

Yeah i didn't account for shipping until after I posted it; See what you do when you take a second to browse while you're trying to work?

Oddly, it actually looks like work when you are browsing the site you work on.

@muaddweeb: Well ... crap.

Will have to remember to check how many are in stock next time I post something.

Good alternative, but I like the way the Merkury Executive case seems to encase the Kindle with leather borders, rather than with flimsy corner straps. Seems sturdier and safer. From the pictures, I can't even tell how Amazon's own case keeps the thing secure. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002Y27P6O/ref=s9_simh_gw_p400_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=017CWAZYY1XGNQGRBXEW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846

@gwintner: The Amazon case seems very nice to me, though I have no other to compare it to.

Along the left edge of the Kindle are two very small slots. The Amazon case 2 includes small metal hooks along the inside of the spine (visible in the second-to-last photo on the Amazon page you linked to).

The bottom hook is fixed, while the top hook is spring-loaded. You push the springed hook down and slide the hooks into the slots on the edge of the Kindle, and then release the springed hook. These hooks latch onto the Kindle and hold it securely.
