have several of these in a variety of sizes from olden times. they work well. be prepared to need to refuel them more than you think.

ALWAYS KEEP A LAYER OF FABRIC BETWEEN THIS ITEM AND YOUR SKIN!!!! you will get burned without even realizing it. (sorry about shouting, but yes it is necessary sometimes)

@moosezilla: Glad to hear they work well from another Wooter.. They got good reviews on Amazon, but it's always good to hear firsthand.

I think these actually come with a small black bag to carry it in.

that little black bag to carry it in, ya, that's so you don't burn yourself with this puppy in your pocket. they get hot. dad always had these when we went sledding in michigan. they were great, nice and toasty, nothing like the bag-of-sand ones they make now.

not too much of a use for these in south florida. happy to not need them these days, but if i did, i'd be in for a half dozen.

So that bag can handle the heat just fine for any amount of time?

There's just something about the words "Zippo" and "handwarmer" that bothers me a bit when you use them together...

@lostmk: The bag does just fine! I have two of these I got off deals woot some time ago for about the same price. Used them skiing this winter. One of them was always harder to get going than the other. They can really put out the heat though! I often do hold it in my bare hand and it is not too hot to burn on contact. Works good in a jacket pocket to heat your whole jacket.

I bought a couple of these from another deals.woot offer last fall. They work great. I like to put one in my shirt pocket, right over my heart/core. With a jacket over, it keeps me very warm. Great for hand warming, too. Mine seem to go 8-12 hrs on a full charge of fuel. The included pouch also regulates the burn rate so it lasts longer.

Looks good. If it was October instead of May, I'd pick one up! I know that if I pick it up now, I'll lose it & forget about it by the time its cold enough to use it.

@zethreal: I have some solid inside info that says October may be showing up again - sometime soon. My sources have pegged it down to around the end of September.
(had to count the months in my head to make sure that was right lol)

I accidentally fashioned something similar when I left two 9 volt batteries in my pocket and they connected... My right butt cheek did not need a hand warmer thats for sure.

@drchops - 5 months from now I know these would be lost somewhere in the furthest depths of my closet, never to be seen again.

@zethreal: Haha yeah, I'm that way too.. that's why this will live in my jockeybox (/glove compartment, depending on where you're from :).. )
