Update: my email came in, clicked "Redeem" and it opened iTunes and installed app. No problems.

Guess they should've put the "may take 24 hours to recieve emial" notice from the beginning.

Update: after receiving no code in 20 hours, I tried again, using a different email address, and had a response waiting for me (at the second email address) by the time I went over to my email program only moments later, and the code worked!
