hmm. after discount, about the same price I paid 1 year ago this time for 1.5TB. Good deal, but surprised that prices have been stable for so long.

vote-for5vote-against

Good price, not the best, I saw a Samsung external 1.5TB elsewhere for the same price w/ free shipping.

vote-for2vote-against

Maybe a year ago for a 1.0 TB, This is a fairly good price for a 1.5TB, Plus a bonus for the amazon-lovers or prime members.

vote-for20vote-against

Two bucks less, free shipping, at newegg.com ...

vote-for3vote-against

Amazon is trying, but all hail NewEgg!

vote-for1vote-against

Any one knows the quality/ reliability of the 1.5T drive from Seagate? It seems that the external version have a high failure rate.

vote-for1vote-against

Good deal.

Love NewEgg - But if the prices are similar, I usually go with Amazon, I prefer their return policy, though both are good.

vote-for1vote-against

Same drive - same price @ Fry's Electronics last week - bought it - good drive and good value for the money.

vote-for1vote-against

Not a bad price. I typically see $90 to $120 for 1.5 TB drives.

vote-for2vote-against

been looking for something like this

vote-for1vote-against

Looks good! Too bad I don't have the $$ for it right now...

vote-for2vote-against

Costco has been selling the external version for $119

vote-for1vote-against

Looks like a decent deal. Free std shipping. Bought 2!

vote-for0vote-against

not a bad deal... agree that I have a 1TB drive that i paid the same amount for this time last year

vote-for1vote-against

Anybody know of a good enclosure to go with this? There are a lot of good deals on bare drives, but by the time you add the enclosure, the package is more than a USB drive.

vote-for1vote-against

I got in for 3. Going to double-up my server space.

vote-for2vote-against

Great drive... Amazon is starting to catch up to NewEgg.

vote-for1vote-against

@seth77: I'd like to know as well. I want to set up NAS in my office for all of our computers to back up to

vote-for1vote-against

If you have a Fry's nearby they usually have something similar in this size for about the same price. I figure by January these will be $60 or less so I'm fighting the urge to build some more RAID arrays!

vote-for1vote-against

OEM bulk - like the egg. Had a run of bad luck with Seagate firmware issues on 3 of this model last year (not the 1.5 TB) - warranty info is kind of elusive on Amazon... price is hard to pass up as a data drive

vote-for1vote-against

All I have to say is - Seagate, never again.

These hard drives have a lot of DOA from newegg but it might just be the newegg bare drive shipping. I also dont see any warranty information on the amazon site. Dont want to just assume 3-5 years. Other than that it looks like a good deal.

@Captmilo: Last couple of drives I purchased from NewEgg were very poorly packed. I like their prices and other aspects of service, but can't live with the will-it-fail-down-the-road packaging of fragile items like hard drives.

vote-for1vote-against

I guess this means I need to move up to SATA

vote-for1vote-against

Price doesn't mean a thing if the quality sucks. Seagate has gone down hill quickly and I wouldn't buy one now.

vote-for1vote-against

hmm must be patient and hope someone buys me this for holidays

vote-for1vote-against

Good deal. I have a 500gb barracuda at home at it's been pretty good so far (Going on 3 yrs. now) It'd be even sweeter to find a wd caviar black one at the same price...

vote-for1vote-against

pretty good pre-black Friday deal!

vote-for1vote-against

Target is selling one Friday, think it is a 1tb for $60

vote-for1vote-against

Nice drives...a few issues with them spinning down, not great in my RAID

vote-for1vote-against

Recent reports on Seagate drives have me staying away from them. I wonder if Samsung or Hitachi would be more reliable.

vote-for1vote-against

Seems like a great deal to me!

vote-for1vote-against

Pretty good price, but not sure it is the best deal around.

vote-for1vote-against

Good deal, I'm on the fence... but you sure cant' beat Amazon's shipping or return policy!

vote-for1vote-against

Do these massive drives last very long ? It seems they hadn't gotten 500mb drives to last and they're building monster drives . I would feel like I'm throwing data into a black whole never to be seen again . lol

vote-for1vote-against

@wootdan: Seagate drives...not for me it is no wonder the price is stable

vote-for1vote-against

I'd watch out for these. The 7200.11 Seagates are known to have firmware issues. Not sure if they fixed the issue with the larger models, but I'd stick with the 7200.12s to be safe.

vote-for1vote-against

@spritle: where was the 1.5 tb external for that price? I'm in the market!

vote-for1vote-against

A lot of storage for the price.

vote-for1vote-against

@wootdan: Yes, I agree I paid $84 for two from dell over a year ago, put two of them in my dlink dns 323 gig nas system.

vote-for1vote-against

@archer954: Yeah, I usually go with amazon also, b/c I don't have to pay tax there!
