So much better than the AMC deal
I really, REALLY want to do this but I'm worried I won't be able to stand 12.5 hours worth of movies, even if it's Marvel...
@djp519: Definitely the one with Edward Norton (Incredible Hulk). This one has the Avengers tie-in.
@fitbabits: That sucks. Maybe these would be able to help you. http://www.2d-glasses.com/
@gopvifootball: Seriously. Wish I could get the day off work, I tried.
No locations in MN... =( This is such a great deal! I DO have school that day though too....... but no one has to know THAT. o_o
UUUUGGGGHHH!! If I didn't have kids and a job...
UUUUGGGGHHHH! If I didn't have a life...
6 hours of 3D? Hope you bring some Advil.
Yay, they have it in my town! The concession discounts are a nice touch, $10-11 is going to cover a big drink with $1 refills, a big popcorn with $2 refills and a hot dog. I have already bought a couple of tickets and emailed all my friends the link. Now we just have to find some sucker willing to go stand in line for it so that we can get decent seats. When we went to the Lord of the Rings marathon we actually had a couple of teenaged friends camp out in line overnight. We plied them with burgers and coffee. Ours was the second group in and we got our favorite row. We had a really great time. Back then the theater had a pizzeria so we were able to buy pizza all day. Hot dogs aren't quite as satisfying, so I expect there will be some smuggling of better food involved in a 13+hour stay at the theater.
@dergage: I take it back. I am totally doing this.
I really hope they're showing "The Incredible Hulk," that is part of the current Marvel Universe, and not "The Hulk," which was the poorly reviewed movie that came out 10 years ago.
Wow, $20 is just over the price of 1 3D movie let alone 3 + 3 non-3D. Unfortunately I only have 4 hours of vacation after my last trip and I would have to take friday off too.
@bobotheboinger: Try telling them you'll be in France at the time fulfilling your duties as a latex salesman for Vandelay Industries. It won't work, of course, but you may give someone a chuckle during an otherwise tedious shift working the helpline.
Ick, I can only imagine the B.O. smell after 12 hours.
wish there was a theater closer to me!
Great promotion, but why is no one else doing this!! There is not a participating theater within a 10 hour driving radius of me! ={
I really want to do this but I just can't last 14+ hours. I have a hard enough time making it through just one Lord of the Rings film.
Cant wait to go! looks like I'm going to have to learn to not pee for 12 hours!
@moondrake: Check my post above. They're supposed to help those that get headaches from 3D movies. They knock out the 3D, but that's better than a headache I suppose.
@fitbabits: You can wear the glasses to filter out the second image. You'd get a 2d image overall but be able to watch the movie, even with one eye.
On a Thurrrrsday? Awesome deal, but the one day a week I can't take off. Too bad.
I REALLY want to go to this! I think my husband might leave me if I take 2 days vacation to watch 13 hours of movies though :( Maybe I could be coughsickcough?
I bought this, since the theatre is closer, but now I need to figure out the refund policy for the 5 movie marathon I bought from regal cinemas (via fandago) a few days ago. :)
Anyone have any insight on that?
Having only one working eye, I'm disappointed that I won't be able to attend given that two of the movies will be screened in REAL 3D. :(
OMG I sooo want to go! Price is amazing!
I never thought I would ever say this, but: WHY DO I LIVE IN NY???
No showings here :'(
@bobotheboinger: Try Craigslisting it if you can't get a refund. I expect these will sell out so you should be able to get your money out of it. I would sell it for cost, though. You don;t want to get busted for scalping.
@rayray8822: I am actually a bit worried about that. We quit watching 3D films because it gave us both headaches. I guess I can close my eyes and just listen part of the time to give my eyes a much-needed rest.
I'd do this if it was local, or even within an hours drive.... Too bad its not
The only problem is 3 back-to-back-to-back 3D films. I really think they should have thrown the non-3D movies in between the others. Each movie stands alone and can be shown in any order(except obviously for IM 1&2).
It would be interesting to see how many people take a break and during which films. I know I'd get up during IM 2 to stretch, run a little bit and rest my eyes.
@bobotheboinger: You can go to your Regal to pick up your tickets, and then ask them to refund them. Fandango charges an extra charge per ticket, which has nothing to do with the theater though, so for that extra $1 or $1.50, whatever it is per ticket you'll have to contact Fandango
@fitbabits: Have you ever tried it? Theoretically, putting on the glasses should make it look like a normal movie for you. Unlike some other forms of 3D, RealD gives the full movie to each eye. That's why it's actually caught on unlike the red/ green glasses that used to be the norm. Im always playing around with my glasses in the theater and can tell you that a 3D movie shouldn't be off limits for you. It wouldn't exactly be worth paying the premium price normally but with a deal this good, you could certainly try it out.
@samjung23: What do you mean? You'd rather be at work than be watching movies all day? Like my father used to say, "Even the worst day of fishing is better than the best day at work..."
Who wouldn't want to play hookie to satisfy their inner-nerd?
This would be too much for me personally. I can barely sit through one of these movies. Not because they're bad (except for Iron Man) but because I'm restless.
Just an update, I was able to get a refund from fandango after two emails back and forth with their support. So, I appreciate that and may actually use their service again since they were able to help me.
I went to AMC and they were very nice about refunding my tickets.
Thank you for the post. Saved a lot of money.
It was totally worth it.
How did my post get downvoted? People on here are so stupid.
Staying in a movie theater for over a day, watching old movies with nerds, eating popcorn, is NOT my idea of fun. I can do that at home, thank you. At least provide a decent lunch or dinner during a break. This sounds like paying for torture. I'd rather go work and get paid for it.
The theaters should provide breaks and some real food. 12 hours getting nothing but popcorn, watching movies you've seen a thousand times before? Not my idea of fun. I'll stay at work, thank you.
I would, but I've been reluctant to go to a Cinemark ever since I heard about the man who died in one of their bathrooms and wasn't found by employees and management for 5 whole days. I like my movie theater restrooms inspected daily, thanks.
