Kills me that this was on sale new for $50 at a couple stores on black Friday and I missed it.

@meh3884: This is still at Tiger Direct new for $50. Remember, this device lacks advanced Netflix features like search and browsing categories.

@bneal123: O rly. I don't have netflix, I just want something for streaming movies from my PC over wifi. But I just got a blu ray with a USB port, so I may just use my external until a more solid streaming device comes out (I can't seem to find one with consistently good reviews yet).

It's also $49.99 on Amazon, new, with free shipping. Pretty marginal reviews though.

I own one of these; you can browse NetFlix categories and search as well. Latest firmware update. The interface isn't as polished as the Apple TV, but I find it to be pretty darned good, particularly regarding playback from ext HD.

I also own one of these. The firmware update made this thing great. I mainly wanted this over a roku because the sony plays almost every video file format making it great for playing videos from external hd usb. The netflix portion isn't as polished as the roku or xbox interface but it still works and has the search function. It reminds me of the old PS3 netflix interface before they updated it.

EDIT: also I would just buy the new one for $49.99 over at amazon or bestbuy

So, this is like a ps3 that won't play games?

I bought this last year for $120. I really don't like this media player at all. It has very little codec support. Half the MKV's I try playing on it saying its "Unsupported or Corrupt File" I had to use a DLNA server to reencode them on the fly and play that as .TS files. I went out and bought a WD Live Media player refurbished for $50. That thing plays almost anything I throw at it, and glitch free. Personally I'd pass on Sony for media players. I gave mine away recently.

I had read through the reviews, and most complained about lack of this or that feature. I want to use it for Netflix, and for streaming videos on my PCs like I do with my PS3, so lack of other features doesn't bother me. I ordered one from Amazon on Friday, but haven't received it yet so I can't comment on the device, but just that the less-than-stellar rating don't really translate to it being a poor product. I'm glad to hear that the new firmware gives the updated Netflix UI.

bought this at best buy for $50 a couple days ago. going back to get the N200 with 3d support for my lg. I Highly recommend it as it plays hulu flawlessly unlike the similar RCA and ROKU 2 XS . Has no issues so far and extremely happy.
