saw this email on the way home and was totally going to add it. sorry i missed it, but glad it was posted.

i LOVE when this site has small item pyrex sales. i don't normally buy the sets as there are some items i just don't use, but this lets me make my own set :)

@smtatertot13: I was surprised no one added this today, so I went ahead and posted it. I stocked up last year on these and wish I had room for more.

free shipping codes anyone?

vote-for3vote-against

@missgord: i don't think i've ever seen one from them, but their shipping costs are not bad. click the link that shows shipping costs (on the cart page, i think) and it'll show you the breakdown - then you can decide if it is worth cutting an item to get better shipping. but really, once you divide the shipping total by the items purchased, it's normally not bad at all. if you're only ordering 1-2 items, it does suck a bit.

@missgord: No, but use coupon code Z03503 for an extra 20% off. Saved me {almost} shipping and tax!

@alxhzlwd: VERY NICE!!!! I may have to break down and buy a few wedding shower gifts.

@alxhzlwd: plus 421 woots for you! thanks for sharing the awesome coupon!

Well, I just shopped my heart out.
That is a good thing!

The coupon code cut my shipping in half. Thanks for posting!

@meeskey: It wouldn't work for me as I used it during my last order. Just loaded up on Pyrex to give to a young couple just starting to get their own house in order. Keeping my fingers crossed the Corningware $2.99 sale happens soon. THAT is a fabulous sale!!!

A word of caution about Pyrex made in the US. The name "Pyrex" was sold for kitchen goods purposes and it is now made with soda glass, not borosilicate glass like in the past (and like the laboratory glass still made by Corning).
Since the conversion there have been a lot of complaints and law suits (even by government agencies) due to allegedly unexplainable explosions of the baking dishes (e.g., lasagna pans, etc.). The European Pyrex made in France is still borosilicate and many folks are now buying the French made stuff or buying older Pyrex at garage sales (which may be dangerous due to unseen damage). In any event, the new soda glass stuff must be treated much more carefully than stuff in the past so relearn everything about how to treat it and do not rely on your past experience with the old Pyrex. Anyway, FWIW...

@thomasr: Thanks for the heads up. That might explain why my sister had a 9x13" pan explode while she was using it in the oven. We always thought it was because the hot liquid she added to a hot dish hadn't been hot enough.

I agree, This stuff can't be cooked with...
I had a pyrex pan explode last year as well...

Pyrex glass cookware made in Charleroi, Pennsylvania is made of tempered soda-lime glass....this has been the case since 1940.
Laboratory Pyrex is made of borosilicate.

Sale is still active and 20% coupon still working!

Thanks!

@thumperchick: Cool! My order should be arriving tomorrow, probably in REALLY big boxes. They pack their stuff very well (with lots of bubble wrap to save like a packrat)!

I bought a 20 piece set at target around Christmas for $20 bucks. The stuff is great.

@lavikinga: I just found this deal, dunno how I missed it a month ago...

But it's still goin :D (5/9)

Hopefully I can find a shipping code or somethin

vote-for1vote-against

@drchops: Use Z03503. It's good for 20% off. Confirmed the deal is still valid. Good start to a new cooking set :)

@drchops: Came up to visit my Dad in PA and believe it or not, we drove right smack by this place in a tiny little PA town. I did a triple take when I realized just what the heck I was staring at.

My last order with them was smashed to hell by FedEx. The box was destroyed. I called C/S and had no problem having replacements shipped right out. Just waiting for the Corningware to be on super sale.

vote-for1vote-against

the pyrex is still on SALE!!

@fern617: That's a really ice company to deal with. They replaced the damaged items with no questions. I had the opportunity to drive by their distribution center (totally by accident) on my way up to the Penn State area. Tiny, tiny town; HUGE distribution center. HUGE!
