It's monitored by Protect America (GE Security) over a standard phone line with the option of adding Broadband Internet or Cellular monitoring (GSM - not sure if it's AT&T or T-Mobile)

@jeffsaunders: So a nice breaker between the phone lines is enough to get in then?

@jeffsaunders: I know that. I used to work cust service for a security company. Is it done by actual people, or automated.

@shrdlu: yes. This is one the major problems with security systems. There are some systems out there with cell backups. They can add 20-40 per month for monitoring.

@sgoman5674: I live in a different world than most people here, in Wootland, and know ways around most things like this (and no, I won't post them here, that would be just plain rude). I have my own systems in place (not discussing those, either, of course), but am always entertained to discuss these things.

Love solutions that depend on electricity. They're my favorite.

@sgoman5674: Sorry for the late reply - it's Christmas, after all... To be honest, I'm not certain. I have to assume that, being nationwide, there has to be a large degree of automation in place but I believe that once an alarm is triggered a human intervenes. Again, I'm not 100% sure and I can't call them (my rep) to ask right now (again, it's Christmas) but I will find out Monday so I can answer more intelligently next time.

@shrdlu: sgoman5674 is correct regarding the cellular backup. This system offers that option as well as battery backup operation. If you click the button to have a rep call you they will be happy to explain all that and answer any questions, probably on Monday.

@jeffsaunders: Click the button to have a representative call me? Did you NOT read the response I wrote?

Amused, I'm sure.
