Criteria DVD prices have been lower since blue ray. But since the majority of these films are very old and Criteria did a great job of transferring the old stock to DVD. A Criteria DVD of the film will be better than A Blue Ray transfer made by almost anyone else.
So until Criteria start re mastering these films onto blue ray disks, these will remain the best versions of these films available.
