deals6” tanto knife, horn handle, etched spine…

I have too many decorative toys and I don't need another wall hanger. At this price I would not trust the edge to remain sharp or not to break. Layered steel is tricky and if not done by an expert it should not be trusted.

Based on my previous experience with their dagger deal, I'm in for one on this.

For the non-obsessed:

The blades on the knives I have bought from this company previously are in fact Damasus steel. Nicely finished. Thick leather sheath with heavy stitching. Decent (but not razor sharp) edge when delivered. Takes and holds a very keen edge with a decent stone or high grit belt sander. Good rivet work in the handle. Good weight and feel (for a small knife) in the hand. Only issue in the past has been shipping which on my first order was in fact dog slow. Second order was better in that regard. For the price and quality of knife, I think even the first order was well worth the wait.

@mypooka: My security software by checkpoint is warning that the website is suspicious and I believe it. PS Good Damascus is custom made and would never be sold at this price.

@mybestuser1: Go with your gut. When a 'company' uses 1337 speak in their domain name, pretty much safe to avoid them.
I don't care if they are offering $2 toys, or even if 100 Pooka's come tell us how they are true Damascus steel and worth 50x their price.
We have no information on where this blade came from, or brand. It is making a crazy claim of 200 folds, when stuff with much less sells for tons more.

There is a reason pattern welded stuff can go so high in price. Basically, what you are doing when you buy this, if you ever get it (only a few people comment opposite) is a cheap decoration, and you are supporting a company that makes a new domain every week, and sells more stuff like this.

The process of making Damascus steel was lost in the mid 18th century and has not been duplicated. That is why real Damascus is so rare and expensive.

Modern "Damascus steel" looks like original Damascus but isn't the same.

This knife is inexpensive and looks nice. I won't order one because of the many people that have commented negatively about the seller's reliability.

Just a caution. This knife is 6" overall with a 3" blade, about the size of an open pocket folder. It is fairly small for a fixed blade knife.

@cebooher3: Actually, we've kind of figured out how Damascus steel is made, but this isn't it. There are a few interesting tricks to make it (vanadium and ball peen hammers), but we have better materials that require less processing now, so it's just not worth it.

Buyer Beware!!
Says in stock and ship in 2-3 days, yeah right?!?!? Like the last dagger deal that only shipped over 20 days and after filing a dispute with Paypal. I wouldn't do business with this company if you paid me. Better going with Ebay at least there is some accountability there.

I bought one last time and can't complain. It is small, but the finish is very nice and so far the edge seems to be holding up just fine. Shipping, while not 3 days, did not take 20... more like 7.

Kids, c'mon- these are a fantastic value for the price. I bought both this tanto (and waited 4 weeks for it, with decent commuication from the vendor) as well as the dagger (which did arrive in 8 days). My ONLY complaints are in the sheaths, and thats really minor as they ain't practical for use- but if you happen to be handy you can make one with a bit of effort. The blades are indeed damascus, arrive sharp and the carbon content is enuf to not only keep an edge, but enuf for a decent blade at 3 times the price. If you are expecting (or whining about it) heritage quality damascus- you are being stupid. For $20, it ain't gonna happen. But, for $20 and $5 shipping, you WILL get a great 'lil damascus blade that'll hold an edge, be servicable as a cutting tool, and look cool as well. Quit expecting artisan products at K-mart pricing, complaining that the microwave takes too long, and that life sucks because you can't have everything like you want it- you'll live a happier life.

@farfenugen: you'll like it- but the sheath is kinda clumsy, and you can get a servicable one for $5 elsewhere. Enjoy, and ignore the effete toolbags that have posted here.

ordered a deal last time these ran under their other domain name. Took them over TWO months to ship it to me. Kept saying they would make their ship date after 3 different messages. Finally had to threaten to take legal action with paypal and it was finally shipped and to my door. One looked OK, other looked like complete crap with horrible finish, horrible polish, and stamp with their name was even poorly done. Will NEVER order from them again.
