Looks like a great deal. Almost sorry that I bought the extended box set on bluray. Checking the details, the Hobbit ticket bux are only good from 12/14/12 through 12/30/12 so folks should be sure to use them quickly.

I should add that these DVDS will be released on 12/4. If you pre-order, the only choice is to have the DVDs shipped to your home and the charge is $1.97 per DVD. If you wait till 12/4 to place your order, you can choose SiteToStore and save on the shipping fee.
@ pgroovelotusfan: Thanks for pointing out that the Hobbit money for movie tickets must be used by 12/30. Good for a family treat during the Christmas Break.

It should be noted that this is for the FIRST of the three movies in the series (Fellowship of the Ring). This is not for all three movies as some other blu-ray offers have been.

Does anyone know how much the movie money is worth? Will it be enough to cover the cost of an HFR IMAX 3D ticket in NYC?

@j0hnlind: actually, it looks like you get movie money with each, so buy each of the movies, get 3 tickets.

I've tried it twice so far but each time they cancel the order

I don't know how to edit my post, but on reading the listings again, they say that with each DVD purchase, one will "Receive Movie Money Towards One Admission Ticket to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey". I had interpreted this as a coupon for a movie ticket, but maybe it only covers part of the price of a ticket. There are no other details that I can find on the internet and I don't suppose anyone can supply us with more details about Hobbit Movie Money as this is a pre-offer.

Usually the way these things work, is that it IS a coupon for a movie ticket, but only up to a certain price. Usually the max value is somewhere around $12 (which covers an evening ticket in all but the largest cities in the US), but I've seen as low as $8. They also sometimes have restrictions that it won't cover the cost of "extras" such as IMAX or 3D, even if the total would still be below the maximum value, but not always.

@fedish925: Price might not be as good then.

Of note, I saw the extended edition Blu-Rays last night at a local Walmart - the movie money sticker on the front said $5 off of a ticket; I'd expect the same with these DVDs. If you're planning to see the movie, it's still only $2.50 a DVD (plus tax/shipping), so it's still a great deal.
