Is that a picture of the player or a UFO?

You should get a PS3. Better.

@cloakofthenight: sounds like this is a problem for Avatar on many Bly-ray players not specifically this one. Odd I got my copy in the mail and haven't tried it yet guess I should hope I have no problems or Amazon will be getting a return.

I bought one of these from Dell and as soon as I did the internet update it was bricked...luckly Dell took it back...very inconvienent though! I'd stay away from this one.

For a little more you can get a brand new LG or Samsung

@drichards21: Seems to be that way. Let us know how it turns out. I have an Insignia (NS-BDLIVE01) that won't play it.

"Is this a poopie, or a Toblerone?" Name that tune. HA. Somebody beat me to the picture comment, but seriously, what's the deal? It's a fuzzy black bar. Heh...

@mboverload: Plus a PS3 can play DivX, ;-), MP4, etc. Not to mention you can play straight from any USB HDD, or thumb/flash drive. I love my PS3 as a media player alone...Plus, I think the PS3 is like one of the top rated players, period. Don't quote me on that ( or anything else for that matter).

@drchops: I also have a PS3, but you might need another player for a different TV. But I agree I love my PS3 too!

PS3 does not give you the same audio output as you would from another Blu-Ray player, read: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-9916002-1.html

avatar is a crappy movie -- I wouldn't worry about it if your Blu-Ray player will play it. Spend the bucks and get the wireless networked one that plays Netflix, Pandora, and one folder on the boot drive a one of your hard drives. You put your Divx, xVid, MKV there and they play. Well, some formats do for sure.
