I can tell you from experience use a 3.5mm to RCA jack cable because this Belkin unit is horrible. The phone literally had to be 4 inches from this unit to send a decent quality signal. No 30" bluetooth range here. Might as well get the cable from Amazon and plug it in at that range for $.99 cents.

I have to disagree with your review. I have this same unit and it works great.
I can carry my phone outside to my patio, which is about 25' away from the unit, and it works fine.
I did find that you can't have the transceiver sitting on top of or very close to other electronic devices.
ie... not on top of your audio receiver. Try moving it around, it might improve. But, not discounting the fact that you may have bad unit.
Mine has a range of about 20-25 throughout my home.
