I bought this for a desktop but found it more useful on my notebook with only three available ports. An external mouse and hard drive leave just one open for this thing.

10% of the final price goes to charity. That's commendable

Interesting, but why not double check some other items that might be better priced. 10% charity from $3.99 ain't much.
The same hub for $1.00 + $1.10 S&H : eBay item # 250521756582

I'm concerned about the speed that 1 port can send through 4 devices

Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going.

@abramokids: i agree, you can't hook multiple hard drives or cd drive at same time like the description suggests.

@abramokids: I have a USB 4 port drive that I use now, and it works just fine. I am running an external hard drive, a web cam, a multimedia card reader, and the last one is empty at the moment. I have noticed no reduction in speed at all. I ordered this one because when I was rearranging my room, I had the USB unplugged, and stepped on it. :( Broke one of the ports! This should be a perfect replacement!

@jxliv7: This one is located in the US and ships in 24 hrs, 250521756582 is located in Hong Kong.

For $2 more you can get this one in a few days rather than 2-3 weeks.

@sabojo: I haven't had trouble with Hong Kong, yea it takes longer but I usully have items arrive in less than a week. Plus they usully ship that night due to the time diffrence.

vote-for1vote-against

@sabojo: Yea, I think @jds753 is right, it's only a couple days slower from Hong Kong. Maybe $1 or even $0.50 a day slower.
But then, I've always thought of "deals" in terms of DOLLAR$, not DAYS.
And that patience is a virtue.
And that an octopus had 8 arms...

@jxliv7: Thanks for the heads up on the same item on eBay. Don't mind waiting.

vote-for1vote-against

OK - it's a half octopus -- quadropus?? In for 1 anyway.

vote-for1vote-against

They couldn't use the term squid, as in example: power squid.

Anyway, I use one of these at work, but mine has 2 connections for the computer-1 is for the usb power transfer.

check dealextreme.com same junk free shipping 2-4 weeks from hongkong

@chalion: wait, so yours has 2 plugs? 1 for the pc and one for the device? wouldn't that make it a cable, and not a hub?

Thanks Wootiewooterson!! :)

@crethwilm: It's possible to respell quadropus - your 4 tentacled octopus - as quatrapus, quadripus, or even quadrupus. There's no definitive mulitplier for 4, which allows me to wonder if quandrypus might be best.

Thinkgeek.com bills it a USB squid - even though a squid has 8 legs and 2 tentacles and an octopus 8 legs - but for $19.95 they can call it whatever they want.

Unless you're a Trekkie, in which case it would naturally live long and prosper as a gigaquadpus.
