I'll save $200 and get an ipad2, and no contract!

Here we go with apple comments.

If I read the deal correctly this makes the xoom 3g $700 without a contract. $30 less than a comparable ipad 2 (32gb + 3g), and the xoom has USB, expandable memory, better resolution, and no extra cost for HDMI. Sounds like a deal to me.

vote-for1vote-against

how many tablet specific apps does honeycomb have?

vote-for2vote-against

You only save $300 with a 2-year Verizon contract at $50 a month. And only 5 GB data per month data limit. $10 overage for every GB over that. Sorry, I just don't like being raked over the coals like that.

A $700 non-computer that's $200 more expensive than my laptop, with less storage, slower speed, very little software and requires a contract?! SIGN ME UP!

@joetron33, @rockstar42155 - so basically your excuses are what people's excuses were last year when the iPad came out. Cause I am sure that when it came out there may have been only like 60 iPad specific apps out then.

It's a new product, apps will be developed for it. Using your logic, we should still be using Commodore 64 cause there were thousands of programs for it before Microsoft and Apple hit the scene.

New products will arrive, healthy competition helps people on both sides of the fence. Some will gravitate to Apple, some to Android, and some to Blackberry. It's human nature.

$539 for the Wi-Fi version at Sam's Club...

@mikeysweet: I am all for health competition, just not over pricing. I would total buy a xoom, but when you don't have the apps and you have competition like the ipad, your price need to be way lower. If it where $400, I would seriously think about it. That's like trying to sell a Dell laptop for the price of a Mac Book Pro.

May I also mention the free 4G upgrade coming up for the Xoom for all of you who still say the Ipad is superior

vote-for1vote-against

I'm sorry, am I missing something? The only way to check out seems to be through amazon.com and it doesn't recognize the promo code above as valid.

vote-for1vote-against

Yes that 4G upgrade is coming. Unfortunately, only the twelve of you who live in an area where it will actually be deployed are going to benefit.

I live in one of the largest cities/counties in the U.S., and fewer than half the places I go even have 3G service.

Building out of the infrastructure is nowhere near the top of cell service providers' list, which is why AT&T got buried under the iPhone users, and why Verizon will be as well - they all LOVE to add users, HATE to install cells.

Fifty bucks a month for limited data access is ludicrous, even more so when you have to sign a long term contract for it.

vote-for3vote-against

Pretty sure this promo code is dead now.

And there is/was no contract here people. It's direct from Moto, but it is the 3g/4g version so you can add data later (month to month) if you wish. I guess all you Apple lovers are butt hurt over contracts because of AT&T/iPhone.

@blue11: Dude I live in Maine. Even the moose in the woods get 3G. ATT just activated it about a year ago, but VZW has had it here for a long time. What 3G-less city of isolation could you possibly reside in?

vote-for1vote-against

@nachokingp: They do use Amazon.com for their checkout. But like I said, they deal is dead, and I think it was before this user even posted. see:

vote-for1vote-against

Deal is definitely dead now, but just so you know...you get hit with sales tax in addition to the $4 shipping. So while you would have saved a little scratch, it's nowhere near $100 off $799 when all is said and done.

@bbruin66: NW Iowa doesn't have 3G yet. That's where I grew up, and when I go home, it's the Edge network. Ugh.

vote-for1vote-against

@etewald: I'd forgotten what a bustling metropolis northern Iowa is.

I would like to stress what someone posted above, with a link to the article.

$539 for the wifi only Xoom at Sam's Club. No contract, and much cheaper than this. Wait until April, the article says.

@blue11: Dude what?! At first I was like -__- but then I LAWL'd.

Verizon already has been undergoing their towers for the 4G. AT&T is the one that's behind EVERYONE'S ass on the 4G, they're the last to even get their damn network up and running while TMobile, Sprint, and Verizon already had it.

I highly doubt Verizon will get buried as AT&T did, Verizon has done more infrastucture building than AT&T. Just so you know I have TMobile and I'm happy with my 3G Samsung Vibrant.

And you couldn't possibly live in one of the largest cities and not get 3G, you're either on the 3rd floor of a 12 story building, or your phone is a POS that needs to be replaced. I live in Florida and get 3G everywhere I go (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Tampa, etc). I've been to New York, Dallas, California, Michigan, and gotten 3G.

Hell we even have 4G here, I get 4G almost everywhere I travel now with my other phone (work phone with Sprint).
