Because a 4.5 star rating on tigerdirect and a 4 star rating on amazon must mean that Seagate is total crap, eh?

(have you seen how they pack hard drives?)

Seagate isn't bad anymore. I know it's a small sample size, but Ive used probably around 15 of their drives in the past 3-4 years without a failure.

Also, when the flooding hit everyone in southern Asia a few years back, Seagate was unaffected, but took the time while everyone else was rebuilding to update all their production facilities, so what's coming out is inherently more reliable now if only due to the machines their being built on.

@samus: I LOL (and cry a bit) because of this statement: when you need to RMA your hard drive seagate demands you package the drive better than the working drive arrival package.
Tiger drops some paper on top of a drive in an oversized box.
