Oh so tempting. I NEED the optical audio that the XDS offers tho, as my receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs. Otherwise I'd be all over this. Good deal tho.

I believe this same model is offered through Roku itself for $59.99. Go to Roku.com and its the main thing they advertise.

no, that's the HD. The XD is 79 on their site

Don't know how this is a deal they sell for 59.99 2 weeks ago brand new from Roku site, Now get 20% off ? and it's still more? classic mark-up and then cut the price to what it normally is and call it a Deal hah.

The Roku XD is $64 directly from Roku's site. Go to blackfriday.roku.com which runs all weekend. 20% off $80 shown in the cart for $64 total.

@jjsalas5555: The HD is 59.99. This is the XD model listed for 79.99 on the Roku site.

I picked up the HD-XR refurb which is now the XD|S on Woot a while back.

@all Amazon has been offering free 30 day trials of Amazon Prime- 2 day free shipping

@jjsalas5555: I looked and didn't find a link to that deal anywhere. My guess is you're confusing the HD (which retails for $59.99) with the XD in this deal.

@ggoodwin1narr: Shipping makes the total cost more than Amazon.

@widmer69: Can't you just use the video out then?

Ok, I just bought the XD on Roku. Here's the special offer for this weekend-they take 20% off the price of $79.99, which doesn't appear until you're at checkout. Roku charges $10 shipping but no sales tax. I checked out Amazon for comparison sake. They sell the same Roku at about the same 20% discount, offer free shipping, but do charge sales tax. For my location, the two were a wash. If you live in a state with little to no sales tax, Amazon might be the better deal.
I already have the HD-XR from an old woot and have been quite happy. Got the XD for a second TV. Didn't need the extra tech features of the XDS, but did want the extended wireles reception of the XD, which is why I didn't get the HR

With my $25 gift card I have this makes a great buy.

@patentdude: sure if you want to go to standard def hehe

@patentdude:
Yes (I assume you're referring to the red and white outs next to the yellow video out), if I only want stereo and not surround sound. The optical audio out on the XDS is a digital signal, the white and red is an analog signal. There is a noticeable difference.

Anyone know if this does streaming from a computer with .mkv files (and if not, anyone know one that does?)

I know that Popcorn Hour plays anything you can throw at it: http://www.popcornhour.com/

@stevo32792:
Boxee Box will stream almost any file from your network. It's $200. The UI is a lil jankey from all the reviews that I've read about it, but if you can get past that, then it's probly the streaming box you're looking for.
