I miss Del Taco. This may be strange, but Del Taco is one of the things I get excited about when I go home to visit family.

I don't think we even have one here, but like In-n-Out, I have faith that eventually it will show up..

If you have In-n-out you are miles ahead of most of us. Lucky.
Where are these places? I hear the name all the time but no matter where I've been in the US, I've never seen one. Are they in the west?

Yep. California. Arizona also has most of the essentials. They slowly make their way East.
We've got a couple Del Tacos in Idaho, too. Alas, we have no In-n-Out.
2 in Orlando, 1 in Oviedo ( East Orlando)

we have del taco all over san diego.
I eat there, on average, 1.5 times a week.
This just saved me a buck... nice.
For those unfamiliar, Del Taco is best thought of as a better-quality version of Taco Bell. With hamburgers (pretty good ones, at that). It's still fast food, but it's good.
And yes, I live within three blocks of Del Taco, In-N-Out, and Jack In The Box, as well as three sushi restaurants.
Texans, never fear, Del Taco is making a comeback. Check their homepage for restaurants both opening and future builds. As for In and Out Burger... not so much. It was okay. No better than Sonic. Good fries. Much better is the A-1 burger at Whataburger. Life changing. 5 Guys is pretty good in Arlington, too. Wingfield's in in South Dallas... mmmm now I want a burger.

I grew up in S. California, I have to agree with some of the other comments...
Del Taco is significantly better than Taco Bell...
And In-n-Out is the best burger place, although The Original Tommy's Burgers are also very good!
Darn...and now I'm hungry, even though it's hours until lunchtime...
@syninthecity: White Castle is horrible, and Rallys/Checkers is only marginally better than McDonalds. None of those come close to In-N-Out!
I live in CA and the only Del Taco anywhere near me closed last year. We do have an In-N-Out fairly close but out here we do not get White Castle, Checkers, or Chik fil a.
Also, 5 guys burger's and Fries is starting to compete strongly with In-N-Out, their burgers are just as good, their fries are way way better and they have BACON.
