@revschafer: Lookout Mobile is the way to go!
still shows as free to me @ 9am central time
@revschafer: Why not get both... I have both. Lookout pinpoints you to about 1000 feet of accuracy. If you can set off the alarm, that's super, but you can't lock the phone. Plus a couple times lookout has been unable to locate my device..... Just checked the newest lookout and it does have a lock and wipe feature, but they are for premium members only.
It's 945 eastern and it is still free. I have found most of the daily free apps stay free for a couple days extra.
It was still free for me too...
I still got it free at 7:40 Mountain Time by following the link. And I just got Peggle by going to the app store in my phone.....ahhhh, turning out out to be a good summer solstice.
I personally prefer Lookout Mobile Security, which is always free, and available through the Android marketplace at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout&feature=search_result It provides the same functionality as SeekDroid and also scans all apps as you install them to look for known malware, plus once a week it rescans all of your apps in case anything got "updated".
You have to download the Amazon App Store first, if you haven't already. But this is supposed to be one of the best "find my droid" apps out there. I'm in!
Jester saying amazon used same philosophy of giving away a little for free to get you hooked so you will pay for much more later as drug dealers. lol basic Marketing 101
@dh4645: Oh for Pete's sake, spend the buck! It will cost you more than that if you have to replace the bloody phone!
99 cents now. booo. not that i couldnt get it by other means, but it wouldn't update automatically like the official (getting it from the store) one would.
A cool little I hope I'll never have to use.
Still got it for free at about 3:40am EST. Great deal, I had also been thinking about getting it.
Works like a charm. Located me to within about 8 feet of where I am with my phone.
Yeah, love android phone, love free apps. Thank you for posting.
Hurry and get SeekDroid while you still can, this app will show expired in just a few minutes. Tattled.

@bstormla: Free Premium Apps offered from Amazon have no ads.
So... If you get this through the Amazon Appstore and then you uninstall the Amazon Appstore does Seekdroid still work??
BTW... SOB!!!! I just bought this for two different phones 2 days ago! Good thing it was only a buck each.
@snutch2thenutch: It's to 1)get attention for their App Store and 2)make a little $$ off the ads that the 'free' apps typically display while in use.. which often leads to 3)someone paying to buy the app outright to get rid of the ads, making even more $$ for Amazon.
@1jondough1: Not necessarily! He can still get an account with amazon appstore, and download it to a queue he can access later.
They give them away free because it builds awareness for their app store and gets people going there more often...in hopes to become the "go-to" place for apps.
For the dude getting his phone tomorrow, you can still "reserve" this by just "buying it" then send it to your phone once you set it up. Once you purchase it it will be in your digital download section of your account :).
@theturbolemming: Looks like you may be SOL. The new free app replaces this one about 2:30am CST.
I am still confused how or why amazon gives away free apps. Anyone know why?
Super Awesome! Thanks for the post!
I'm getting an android phone in... fourteen hours. What perfect timing.
free = the best kind of woot!
Dang it, I bought this app a couple weeks ago.
I've been looking for an app like this for my sons phone. Thanks for the great tip!!!
I found it in the Amazon Appstore. I've wanted to get this for a few weeks now, but today the price is right!!
Let's hope I never use it!
Great find! I didn't see it advertised anywhere on Amazon's site.
=D
