Are they in stock anywhere? I can't find one within 50 miles of where I live and work; I tried a zip code 1,000 miles away (where I used to live, in a much larger city) and couldn't find one in stock near there either.

Yes they are (at least in Austin area). I picked up one and a stock search showed several others in town had them as well. This was yesterday however.

The site is down for maintenance right now. Figures, now I'll probably stay up even later just to see if one is available nearby...

FYI, Gingerbread (almost?) always means OS is not upgradable.

Looks like it can be upgraded to Icecream Sandwich (4.0) using an image from Lenovo:

And, btw, the Thinkpad A1 and A1107 are the same hardware, but the A1107 comes pre-loaded with Icecream Sandwich.

No where within 75 miles of Jax, FL - oh well.

I own an A1107 and I wouldn't wish this piece of carp on my worst enemy. Unless I put it into airplane mode the battery will not last 10 hours. That is with it on standby. When you look at the battery monitor to see where it went, it says that 96% was spent on cell standby. The problem is that the A1107 doesn't have a cellular radio! It is wifi only. I ended up mounting it on a flip down bracket in the kitchen where it can be permanently connected to a power source. It's now an electronic cookbook.
