Dyson DC25 for $249.99 + $5.00 shipping
Suction power - 220 airwatts (constant)
Unlike conventional upright vacuums that sit on four fixed wheels and are hard to steer, the DC25 rides on a ball so you can get the vacuum where you need it without pushing and pulling, back and forth around corners and obstacles
The motor is stored inside the ball which gives it a lower center of gravity that improves maneuverability
Root Cyclone Technology - Uses cyclonic separation to remove dirt from the air without using a filter
Lifetime HEPA Filtration - HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters can remove 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 micrometers in diameter. This can trap fine particles such as pollen or other allergens
Certified Asthma Friendly - Air expelled from a Dyson DC25 has up to 150 times less mold and bacteria than the air you breathe
What would a day be like without a Dyson Deal? It's good to know some things never change at woot!
Home Depot had these on clearance for about $140 recently. Wish I could have gotten in on THAT deal!
I love my Dyson. We have the Pet one (it's purple) but I'm willing to bet that all of the Dyson Ball Vacuums perform just as well. For 249, I'd say yes if I didn't already have one. And you can't beat $5 shipping for such a heavy item.
I have the DC28 Animal, which has those "conventional fixed wheels" instead of the ball. It does what it says, sucks up dirt and the ever-accumulating wads of fuzz the dogs generously contribute. If you also have three long-haired breeds in your house, you'll find the cylinder fills pretty quickly with hair, much more quickly than the old bag style vacuum I had before. But then, it does keep sucking like it's supposed to, even when close to full.
Almost forgot the other point I was going to make: I've heard, but can't personally verify, that the rolling-ball design like this model uses is supposedly more of a pain to get used to using than regular wheels. Maybe that's why they make wheeled vacuums too.
Ah Dyson, the Apple of vacuums!
My wife just bought an iPad and has been complaining about her old vacuum cleaner just not getting the job done. Perhaps I should spring for one of these?
Does Dyson make a bracket to hold an iPad while you're vacuuming?
@urocyon: the ball is definitely more maneuverable. people are just used to going in straight lines with minor pivots and dont expect the ball to turn so easily. you just have to remember to keep your wrist in line with where you want to go, and the vacuum will follow (your thumb position shows your wrist alignment).
I bought the Dyson Ball Vacuum, but they lied, it's really for floors.
@neal: You just didn't get the correct accessories.
I have always wanted a ball vacuum with the proper amount of suction.
