Great Deal. You must utilize the chat feature on the web and they will honor the price. If you don't get someone to price match the first time go back through the chat and select website error. They fix it no problem.

vote-for-6vote-against

This post from this woot is a false information Please do not go to chat/phone /email and waste your Time -- well wisher :)

vote-for-5vote-against

Please dont try, it will not work, I have tried source code 83323 is fake. : (

vote-for3vote-against

I tried twice both price match and website error and was told in store only. Since I don't have the catalog, I guess SOL. They must already be on the problem. Would be nice to have a copy of the catalog page.

vote-for3vote-against

@rashdeal: Baloney! This guy has been posting deals for a long time and I doubt he'd (she'd) post a fake one. I think so many people have tried that they are on to the error and are putting people off with in store only.

vote-for-4vote-against

sorry barry, I agree with rashdeal, since I tried it without any success.

vote-for-3vote-against

@barrywilliams991: yeah !! But I do have the catalog and unable to upload to show it here but this product is not listed so I am afraid this info is fake and waste of time doing it online for the price shown here .

vote-for1vote-against

I have tried it too but this is only available in store

vote-for2vote-against

@rashdeal: Can you put a scan of the page referenced up on one of the photo sharing sites?

vote-for4vote-against

@tgspec: I had to google Sholes, that is some obscure referencing:

So the rest of you will not have to because google it I posted what I found.

Christopher Latham Sholes 'invented the first practical typewriter and the QWERTY keyboard still in use today.'
You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Latham_Sholes
From the context Sholes seems like an insult but I guess it could be an insult if you do not like QWERTY keyboard layout.
Here is a picture of him and his typewriter.

I apologize for the wording above, I did some editing and ran out of time.

Or, go to Newegg, with code EMCPWWC56, and get it as a refurb for $69.95, with free shipping (until midnight 11/18, PST).

vote-for11vote-against

@caffeine_dude: The reason Christopher Sholes is unknown is that his typewriter had what is widely considered to be the first "bug" - hitting the S key resulted in typing two asterisks before that letter. Sholes spent the remainder of his life trying to find and correct the problem, only to fail and die penniless. On this tombstone: "Inventions may come and go, but **sholes will always be with us."

vote-for5vote-against

HA!!!!... IT works!!.. I just order it!.. I paid a total of $64.49 but that of course is my TAX.

THANK YOU!

vote-for1vote-against

Just looked. The price is 99.99

vote-for3vote-against

Anyone have any insight as to where this catalog came from? Was it in the store? Was it mailed to certain customers? Was it a flyer in a newspaper? Any online ads I found (current and upcoming) do not have the Roku 3. Willing to give it a shot, but would like the ad to take to the store...

vote-for1vote-against

@rashdeal & @slickdeals12: I am sorry you didn't have success but many have. Haters gonna hate I guess...

@tgspec: I completely disagree with you. This is a truth in advertising issue. If you advertise an item for a price, you need to honor it. Otherwise everyone could bait and switch and cry mistake.

@scubalab: It was not an online ad. It was a print catalog that I had mailed to me with an order I placed last week. Next time I am in my office, I will post a photo of the page.

@daledevon: You need to read the details above. The price for the Roku 3 on their site is $99.99 but in the catalog it was $59.99. If you call/chat, they will give you the sale price.

vote-for6vote-against

@ysteichman: With the 9-digit catalog item number they will honor the price. Not needing a Roku 3 now but if you share the 9-digit Item number from the catalog OD will honor the price. That's all it is needed to call or chat with them

vote-for3vote-against

@aletsm: That's just them being difficult. Here is my actual chat transcript from when I placed my order: (Have to break it up into two posts due to character limits)

Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
You have been connected to Fred.
Fred: Hi S
Fred: I am sorry for that trouble you are facing
Fred: I will be happy to help you. Please help me with the item # and the catalog price
S: Hi Fred. I just got the latest catalog last week and I see the Roku 3 for 59.99 but on the website it is 99.99. The item number in the catalog is linking to the Roku 1 but the picture and description are clearly of the Roku 3. The catalog has the item number as 220106697.
Fred: Please give me a moment while I check that for you
Fred: Thank you for your patience.
Fred: I did check with the item # 220106697 and the price $59.99 for the online purchase
S: But it is the wrong product. The one advertised is the Roku 3, which on the website is item #243965

vote-for1vote-against

(part 2)

Fred: The item # 243965 is for Roku 3
S: Right, and that is the one in the picture in the catalog, they just have the wrong item number. The one in the picture says Roku 3 on it and says it comes with headphones.
Fred: The item # for Roku 3 243965 and it comes with the price of $99.99
S: The source code on the catalog is 83323 and the item is on page 5. The item is shown is clearly the Roku 3. I would like to order it at the advertised price.
Fred: I will escalate this issue to the concern so that they will contact you and fix the issue , you can place the order with them in the advertised price. Please help me with your contact phone #
S: xxx-xxx-xxxx
Fred: Thank you.
Fred: I have arranged for the call back so that you will receive the call shortly . You can place the order with them
S: Thank you.

Worked for me. I had no trouble at all in chat.

vote-for2vote-against

@ysteichman: Thanks for the follow up and tips. Unfortunately, YMMV. I did try both through chat, and calling their 800 number. Both times, I got the standard disclaimer that there may be errors in ads, blah, blah, blah...

I even tried, "well, I'll take the ad to Staples or BB, and they'll price match" bluff hoping they'd reduce the price, but no dice. I may try chatting again using the source code/page reference and see if that works. If not, oh well, worth a try.

Again, I appreciate the tips and advice!

@scubalab: 11:05 AM CST

I started a live chat after first doing a pretend search for "220106697" and then adding the $99 Roku to my cart. I told them that I was trying to order the Roku pictured in the catalog with headphone remote for $59.99 and that when I put the number into the web site it brought up a much older model that has a standard remote. I then asked how I can order the newer Roku pictured in the catalog for $59.99.

They asked what the catalog number was, and I told them "220106697" and then I told them that the Roku 3 (Item 243965) matches the picture in the catalog.

After not much verification, they sent the price-adjusted item to my cart and gave instructions on how to refresh the cart.

I treated it very much like I had the catalog in front of me and was just trying to order and as if I had no idea that there was a printing error. Not acting like I'm playing a price match game.

vote-for2vote-against

I'll back up scubalab's post. I just tried what he tried and no fuss, no muss, the chat operator added the item to my cart.

This is vastly different from the experience I had last night. I approached it not as an unwitting customer but as a knowing customer and tehy refused the request on the spot.

vote-for2vote-against

I just did it and the person I chatted with said they're escalating it and I should get a call back within 24 hours.

vote-for2vote-against

Just did it, also following scubalab's instructions. Chat operator had me purchase and then adjusted the price. She found out she couldn't do it that way so she cancelled my order and made a new one. Took a few minutes but no effort on my part. THANKS from a new cable cutter!

vote-for3vote-against

Had to go through two chat agents, but the second one adjusted the order after it was placed.

vote-for2vote-against

It worked for me, just chatted and the guy gave me a $40 discount

vote-for2vote-against

Thanks guys, was gonna order the refurb, but this actually is about the same price for new. It took about 20 minutes arguing with chat then they had someone call me who, after some confusion, worked it out.

vote-for0vote-against

No Hope at OD and BB but works at staples I got it from Staples Yeah

vote-for1vote-against

I like it when you get free pancakes!

vote-for0vote-against

I too got it from staples and not from OD

this is frustrated

vote-for2vote-against

To get it from Staples, did you have to show a copy of the catalog?

vote-for1vote-against

I struck out 3 times with chat agents & once on a call. The last time I tried omnichad's chat instructions to a T. The agent (English wasn't his 1st language) originally said he'd honor the price, set up an account for me, asked how many of item 243965 (which IS the Roku 3) I wanted to buy. I told him one, and he gave me a total of $64.50 +/-. Then I asked if I could pick up in store, and he said absolutely, and told me the new total was $52.99! He said I just needed to take the email confirmation to the store to pay & pick it up after 1 hour. I instantly got the email and sadly noticed that it was the Roku 1...

I questioned him & he "assured me" I would get the Roku 3. Then things went south. He started pasting their standard "..we're sincerely sorry.." lines, along with their canned "not responsible for errors" message. After 1/2 hour, angry, I went to the store with the email and chat log.

The Manager did honor the $49.99 price for the Roku 3, but I don't feel right about it...

vote-for2vote-against

SO, I think they are on to the error, and fewer and fewer chat agents are even budging. Thankfully, the store manager understood my frustration and time spent on the chat setting up the order. She let me take one off the shelf and marked it down $50.

YMMV with the chat... :-(

vote-for1vote-against

They must be getting wise, or fed up. 2 try's online, one on the phone. No good. Good luck

vote-for1vote-against

Would greatly appreciated if someone email me a copy of the ad so I can bring it to the store? Thanks in advance.

Didn't work for me

vote-for2vote-against

Worked for me and did it for store pick up. The manager at office depot was asking for the catalog and a coupon that he thought I used. I told him I had none of them and he still gave it to me. I'm assuming he wanted to get one for himself, or just wanted to be jerk. Anyways, you can't refuse a customer who has already paid and has a receipt of purchase in the system and on paper. Thanks woot!!!!!

vote-for2vote-against

@rashdeal: How did Staples honor the Office Depot deal?

vote-for2vote-against

YES it does work. I just chatted with them online and followed the mentioned instructions. It took me TWO tries chatting with different people to get them to honor the $59.99. I should be getting it by Monday.... use the source code 83323, page # 5, item Number : 243965 and the WEBSITE ERROR drop down option when chatting. let them know the website shows $99.99 but the flyer states $59.99... Worked but took a little time to save me including tax difference $42.40 !
thank You for posting this item

vote-for4vote-against

For those who try and are being told the price is in store only, the catalog SPECIFICALLY states that the prices are NOT VALID in stores. IMHO, this is just them trying to get out of it. I don't think they have a leg to stand on. The catalog doesn't even have a disclaimer for printing errors (as far as I can find.) And btw, here's a picture of the actual catalog page: [img][/img]

vote-for1vote-against

@ysteichman: I'm assuming the scratched out mark is your order number. Thanks for the post. I'm tempted to buy another one lol.

vote-for1vote-against

Looks like they are on to this deal...
(from the website today) We're sorry, item 243965 is not available for purchase at this time
