I've wanted to try these, but my wife has firmly stated no.

@lparsons42: Buy them anyway. Use your allowance. :p

@lparsons42: Stop being so whipped. Do you get to pick her shoes?

I've always wanted to get these shoes, but the special socks are too expensive imo.

vote-for4vote-against

why would you want to wear socks with these?

@stein321: My feet sweat easily, so socks help keep the shoes from smelling of death after wearing them a couple times. Also, wearing shoes without socks feels gross to me. Probably for the same reason.

@kay0sth30ry: you can get the rainbow colored toe socks, they should be cheap enough.

So, is this a "good" price? I haven't been keeping track of these, but I've always been interested since I go around truly barefoot anyhow.

@johnxx: I have to admit, they do smell pretty terrible, but they do feel great without socks.

@bradgentry: Yes. I'd say this is a good price. They go on sale like this about once every couple months. Make sure you measure your feet according to their guidelines before purchasing though. If possible, get them delivered to a local REI, try them on at the store and return them on-the-spot if they don't fit right. These shoes are really dependent on a good fit.

@stein321: I think the socks vs. no-socks thing must come down to preference. Every time I've tried to wear mine without socks it's just felt gross after a couple minutes. On the other hand, these don't have annoying interior seams like some other shoes do, so for anyone who's happy to go sockless in other shoes, they'll be fine with these too, I think.

@stein321: i just sent back a pair of Fila Skele-toes (similar) because where one of the seems meets the mesh, it was cutting into my skin. socks would have solved the problem, and I agree, toe socks (especially athletic type) are too much (cheapest I could find was around 5 bucks a pair)

As I went to order these I realized they don't have my size. Ugh! Only 4 sizes available...

This model is being discontinued, even though a lot of owners love them (they just didn't sell well I guess). The sole on these is the 'Classic' sole, which is among the most versatile Vibram has produced. It'll stand up to walking, running, water sports, hiking, climbing, whatever. Great shoe.

It's an ok price, but let me tell you. If you were ever in the military, and wore Corfram shoes (no polish shoes) with Vibram soles, these are the same soles! I can't wear these without my feet starting to hurt after an hour, and they hurt for DAYS afterward. So if you had problems wearing Vibram soles before, you might want to look at Teva's "toe shoes"!

I LOVE the feel of everything about these shoes EXCEPT the Vibram soles! Measurement was easy, and made a very good fit even with one foot being larger than the other.

@kderby42: No but part of the agreement is she can never be a Yankees fan.
