Optoma Pico Pocket Projector for $99.99 + shipping
Presentations? Well, sure. A Optoma PK101 Pico Pocket Projector could do that. But wouldn’t you really rather use it for something… fun?

I've been looking to get a cheaper projector... but I'm not sure if the is the one for me. Anyone with some personal experience w/ this one?
I, too, would like to hear somebody's experiences with this projector.
This will have a tiny screen (compared to most projectors) and will not be very bright, look at a pitch black room for decent viewing. If you're planning on watching anything in better quality than those 700MB rips you'll be disappointed. As for text in a presentation, a few words on a slide will work but charts and graphs will be hard to see (especially if they have small text).
@llamabox: ...errrr well it doesn't seem to connect to laptops, etc UNLESS it has composite. I think this is more of what I would need http://amzn.to/bKUXNp
i think these are pretty much targeted at people with phones with TV out, like the Samsung Galaxy S, or the HTC Touch Pro 2, or the Zaune 80 gb. Am I wrong?
Hey guys,
I got this when it first came out. At the time it had the best lumens for a pico but spent $300 for it. It is tiny and my friends cannot believe that it's a projector. Experience wise, I got for Iraq. We made a movie theater out of our tent. It didn't need to be pitch black but it definitely helped. We made a screen out of white sheets and it was fair. Great for such a small item. Down side was only really hooked up to my camera and iPod. Computer would have taken too much finagling. If you have $100 to spend and want something will work through your iPod and you have a fairly dim room, it is not a bad deal. Don't expect it to be like a movie theater. And the size of our screen had to have been about 60 inches-ish. Oh yeah focusing the picture was a bit of an annoyance. I hope his helped a little.
@underdog9: Thanks man...appreciate the inf0...
I don't NEED this for ANYTHING...but, I sure as hell would like to have it.
It's like bein' able to carry a big-screen around in you're pocket heh...with the obvious exceptions heh...
Anyways...seems like a great deal, especially considering the normal price of these things...
Now it's time to decide if I spend the money I don't have to buy the cool-ass thing I don't need; but wan..OR not.
will this work with my ipad? an how about safari? docs to go PowerPoint?
i just got one thnks to this video, hope this helps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fROxb6WdsS0
@underdog9: I'm assuming you were in Iraq with the military so thanks for serving.
Have 2, ripped one apart to refit it for IR.
Nice unit, impressive for the size.
Very dim, but in a pitch black room it will generate impressively large images.
480x320 resolution w/ composite input but spectacular color reproduction.
@sakupiec: Can you explain your IR project?? What is the size of the DLP chip? [Have always wanted to rip it apart and drop a pinpoint laser into the light/mirror path and use it as a laser mirror.]
You'll need something like this to use it with an "i" product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Component-AV-Cable-component/dp/B001JBKRES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1284734637&sr=8-1
And of course there are cheaper alternatives...
what are the cheaper alternatives for i-products, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks
Umm it comes with an adapter for iPod, assuming that works for iphone/pad. If your looking to go for the real thing I'd spring for the pk201 over the 102
nvm looks like its this adapter, works up to 3gs

If your laptop/netbook/PC has a VGA output, wouldn't this $7 adapter work?

ok i got it...........i saw it last night and said ok if its still there at noon on friday its mine so its mine...i hope it works for me ,,,,she who has the most toys...
If anyone plans on buying other adapters to connect this to their ipod or computer, make sure you buy a COMPOSITE adapter, not a COMPONENT adapter. A few of the links posted here are for component adapters.
@flowerofhighrank: Mostly cheap chinese knock-offs. You can find them on such places as amazon, meritline.com, tomtop.com, and cellphoneshop.net to name a few.

Doesn't hold a stick to my Cinemin Swivel! Muhahaha!
@happyhooligan: Not necessarily - Note: Please make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA / S-Video) output through VGA Port
If it DOES, you're golden. Most video cards/laptops that support TV output have a specific Composite/S-Video/Component/etc port that will do some or all of the above. My ATI 4750 card has a port I believe will do S-Video natively, composite with an s-video -> composite adapter, or component with a dongle cable.
i am strongly thinking of buying this unit..when i went to checkout it said it was a refurbished unit..should i still get it?...need some advice..thanx j
if i don't by anything at all along with it... like no converters or anything like that... does that mean i can't use it at all with my ipod or laptop?
check whats included in the price, you should be good, i got one, check the youtube link i posted earlier today, it will give you some reasurance, it worked for me.
I bought one of these on Walmart.com for 2-3 x the price. VERY disappointed. Battery life was less than 15 minutes AND the image projected was SO dim, the room had to be PITCH black to view it at all.
I returned it for a refund.
