WTF is an "Atkins bar"? Atkins is all fats and proteins, no carbs, so it's...?

In for 27.

I'll give em a try. Have to be honest that i've dropped 50 lbs with a variant of the Atkins diet... yeah, it's mostly fats and protein but the majority of the weight loss came with workouts and not overeating- as would most normal weight loss. I chose this diet because it keeps me feeling full and kills the craving for sweets. Take that for what it's worth but we each have our weaknesses.
cheers
In for one, because I like free food.
Good deal annnnd I will do wootvan's loss plan!!!!!
I think I don't get the free candy bars, all I get is their "free quick-start guide". They think I should weigh 20-40 pounds more than I do for my height. Do any wooters know what the hell "BMI" is? Mine is 20.08 (according to them) and I have no idea what they are talking about.
Body Mass Index.
It sucks as a measurement. Almost everyone is obese based on this.
Based strictly on height.
@rolledsho: Thanks for the info. I think they should give you some sort of scale to judge what 20.08 BMI means. At 6'4", I am fairly tall, but I am still confused. But Google is my friend, I believe I shall consult him.
@rolledsho: lol... I am 5' 11" and weigh 130lbs
My recommended weight, according to that site is up to 180lbs
Face it, lot of people are just obese!
The diet itself is good....but all these low-carb bars are really not. You only get 20 carbs a day and you shouldn't waste them on breakfast bars and fake chocolate and all that other stuff they sell....
Read Dr. Atkins book...follow the diet and you'll lose weight...eat a lot of these atkins friendly processed food items and you wont lose any weight....
Atkins is bollocks. Less food, more exercise, omgitssohard.
In for the free bars.
I signed up but didn't see anywhere they're giving you 3 free bars.
Welcome. You’re just 30 seconds away from your FREE Quick-Start Guide, 3 FREE Atkins bars and so much more.
From the web page. It looks like it is part of the FREE Quick-Start Guide package. My best scientific wild assed guess (SWAG)
I love free stuff too, I'm in
This diet, as with all fad diets, are not for long term weight loss. If you stick to the very strict guidelines of this diet you may be able to lose a few pounds. But you can't honestly think that eating eggs and bacon is healthy as long as you leave out the toast. Wake up people. The best way to lose weight? Eat healthy and exercise. That's it. We're all fairly smart people and know what is good for us and what isn't. If you're eating a grilled chicken salad with fresh vegetables it's OK to eat a larger portion, just go easy on the dressing. However if fried clams and fries with coleslaw is on the menu, you might want to think about not eating everything on your plate.
Too many people in our country are overweight and one of the big reason is lack of portion control. Don't eat until you are full. By then you have consumed way too much food. Eat smaller, healthy meals and take the stairs instead of the elevator. Park a little further away from the office store.
robsama... you're so serious!
@robsama: you might want to read Dr. Atkins Book before you make comments like that...also a recent study showed lower blood pressure in a Atkins dieters....Following the diet correctly will not only help you lose weight in a healthy way but it can lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
It has done both for me....and I lost (as of 01/15/10) 53 pounds in 8 weeks and counting....If however you do the fad side (and yea there is one) in buying all these products with the Atkins logo on them that contain Sugar alcohol...you won't lose weight, not even a few pounds really....so if anyone is thinking about trying the Atkins diet..talk to your doctor as you should with any diet...and yes you do need to exercise eventually as you progress in the diet though not at first (I haven't yet due to major back problems....one of the reason I went on the diet.)
So it is a good diet, just don't fall for all the products and read the book thoroughly.
i signed up, but i'm skeptical because there was no mention of getting the free bars at the end of the form. not sure if you need to be a fatty or what; i'm 5'7" and 107 lbs, not exactly prime atkin's material!
Actually if you read the Atkins book they want you to eat lots of chicken and vegatables. also fish and lean meats. I lost 145 lbs in a year and have kept 100 off for over 5 years now. I dont reccomend the bars and stuff to help with weightloss. I noticed it hindered it but I did eat them when I wanted something sweet.
Although a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine is sometimes cited as providing evidence that the Atkins Diet works, in fact its conclusion is that although more weight was lost at the end of 6 months on the Atkins Diet than on a low calorie diet, after one year, the difference was insignificant.
The metabolic processes involved in using fat for energy instead of carbohydrates can lead to increased uric acid and ketones which can cause kidney problems, gout and headaches.
There can be low amounts of dietary fibre on the Atkins Diet leading to constipation and chronic bowel disease.
The high amounts of animal fat eaten on the Atkins Diet can have a bad effect on cholesterol levels and can lead to cardiac disease.
The Atkins diet doesn't conform to the American Heart Association's dietary guidelines for a healthy heart.
But hey, if it works for you.
Just sayin...
Got mine - hubby is on Atkins-like diet so he'll munch on these!
I went through the whole sign up process and was not offered the bars. Only thing I got out of this was putting myself on another spammers list.
More free stuff great.
Tasty deal
Got mine in the mail today. Good deal. Well worth it.
Just got mine. Great bars for free! They filled me up just like my standard protein bar. Thanks!
Got mine QUICK! and they taste good...imagine that!
I got mine (3 bars) two days ago. They sent me an email yesterday thanking me for ordering the samples and a link for a coupon. They were very good, taste better than your usual "healthy" bars. For people saying that diets with protein, fat and low carbs are not good, I lost 15lbs last summer doing a food program like that (not Atkins). My doctor even approved of it. I had more energy, felt so much better and fuller.
They're still doing this. I signed up and it got it less than a week later. Yayerz.
