I added this partially because I thought it might be a good community contribution and partially because I was thinking about maybe buying it for my husband, who loves comics. I personally don't know much about them and was hoping that any comments might give me a better idea on whether to buy this. Looks like the answer is "no."

If you buy this expecting to actually get $500 worth of comics for 24.99 your probably fooling yourself. I think this is a good deal if you just want a bunch of random comics to read or give to your kid. Remember, comics were originally made for entertainment, not to be worth hundreds of dollars... If the comments are right and you do not get any cool DC or Marvel comics, I would pass though. I don't care about Archie or his friends. :)
