Much better that way. Thanks.

The link at PopSci really only leads to a search interface which is not that great (or accurate). Not so sure about "137 years" though. Oldest issue is from 1925 and that is less than 100 years (unless I missed something)

If you look at page 9 of the May 1926 issue, it says that issue marks their 54th birthday. Apparently, they starting in 1872.

Either way, good stuff :)

Funny because I just recycled the last few years of issues.

This is probably the coolest thing I've seen on Deals. +50!!

@oo7slice: Thanks for posting that link. Imma steal it and put it in my bookmarks folder.

Looks like a great source.

@jaburg: The problem is that google's paging only goes to 100. If you manually change the numbers in the link, you can see older issues.

Change the 1010 to a higher number to see even older issues.

http://books.google.com/books/serial/wzsEAAAAMBAJ?rview=0&lr=&sa=N&start=1560

takes you to May 1872.

@nephrectomy1: No problem..sharing's caring.

I had no idea these magazines were around for that long! Printing press days. lol

If I show this to my husband, I may never see or hear from him again. How long DOES it take to read 137 years worth of Popular Science from online cover to online cover?

Randomly selected Jun 1872 issue and found the main article:

"On the Artificial Production of Stupidity in Schools"

Love it! Thanks.

The month and year that you were born is something to look at. Never knew I was so old.

My list goes back to 1926. how did you find ones before that?

The makers of the press for the Gutenberg Bible actually used plans from the May 1292 issue of PopSci.

Moses was only able to print his on stone. Available on Google Earth only, and not legible @ highest pixel. No advertisements and great for those serious Arc and tall tower builders!

Best part about this is looking at all of the old advertisements. Snake oil never goes out of style!

Think of all the inventions that came into existence during the lifespan of this magazine.

The Telephone was invented in 1876
The Phonograph was invented in 1877
The light bulb was invented in 1878
Motion Pictures were invented in 1878
The automobile was invented in 1885
Radio was invented around 1895
The Wright Brothers' first flight was in 1903
