I have one of these; it's pretty decent. In theory, the base can be used for searing, it's non stick. I've never done it, though, prefer cast iron skillets. Sear, salt, pepper, plop a 3-4 pound roast in it, plug it in, go to work, come home, boom. Food. Probably not as good for stew-type stuff, as it only heats the bottom, but for big honkin' hunks of meat, it's great.

Have 2 of these, 4 Qt. & 6 Qt., love them. Can use on stove top or put in the oven and they last for years.

I have had this slow cooker for about 20 years and love it! It's great for any recipe you would use with a traditional slow cooker but much easier to clean! I even made a cake last week-end in it! And my family stew recipe is delicious in it!!

Was almost there on pulling the trigger and then backed out. Purchased something else on Woot today and if this had been free shipping because of that, I would have done it. I really did not need one of these (I think) but if shipping had been included, I would have had to lunge.

I've had one since 1977. Not very sexy, just reliable and always ready to get turned on. Handles any hunk of meat you can shove into it.

So many benefits for only $35. And so much more reliable than that other thing I got in 1977.
